Texas Roadhouse Butter Chicken Skillet
Ingredients:
1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
½ teaspoon chili powder
½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
½ cup chicken broth
¼ cup heavy cream
½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
Optional: sliced green onions, for garnish
Instructions
Step 1: Cook the Chicken
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter over medium-high heat.
Season the chicken with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, chili powder, cayenne (if using), salt, and pepper.
Add chicken to the skillet and cook for 6–8 minutes, or until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
Step 2: Make the Sauce
Lower the heat to medium and add the remaining tablespoon of butter.
Pour in chicken broth and heavy cream. Stir to combine, scraping any browned bits from the pan.
Simmer for 3–4 minutes until slightly thickened.
Step 3: Combine and Melt Cheese
Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, stirring to coat in the sauce.
Sprinkle the cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
Cover and cook for 2 minutes until the cheese is melted.
Step 4: Garnish and Serve
Top with chopped parsley and sliced green onions if using.
Serve hot with rice, mashed potatoes, or crusty bread.
