A Quieter Note from Paris

Paris is in a difficult moment, and today it feels right to pause and acknowledge it.

The voices of young people asking for better schools, proper facilities and a fairer future deserve to be heard. The destruction and violence witnessed yesterday are deeply troubling, too.

At Corbeauval, we believe that culture, beauty and the preservation of what matters have their place in our lives — but so do compassion, listening and respect for one another.

Today’s letter from Paris is a small reflection on friendship, different perspectives and the importance of making room for one another.

Sometimes the best discoveries happen when you’re not looking for them.

Today, I accidentally walked into an estate sale here in Normandy and stumbled upon this rather fabulous collection of mid-century modern vases.

Sculptural forms, smoky amber glass, honey-coloured stone and that wonderfully weathered green patina on the pitcher… each piece has its own personality, yet together they create the kind of unexpected composition that makes my vintage-loving heart skip a beat.

I went in by accident. I left with inspiration.

This is exactly why I love what I do at Corbeauval European Vintage Emporium — the thrill of discovering beautiful objects with character, history and a life still ahead of them.

Because sometimes, the most extraordinary finds are hiding just around the corner.

From Highland castles to Parisian apartments, Arabella has endless ideas — and relies on the Curator for the final word on fashion and interiors. Their conversations rarely last less than two hours!

“I have decided to spend November in Paris. The Highlands are becoming terribly damp, and my family has been dead for centuries. I see no reason to suffer on their behalf.”
