Umbra Veris — in the shadow of spring
I have this ritual before every departure to a new destination: creating the fragrance that will seal my memories.
After discovering the gardens of the Alcázar in Seville with awe (there’s so much to say about this place) , I wanted, before returning there once again, to create a fragrance to amplify every sensation I longed to experience again. I sought to capture that lush, ephemeral freshness of the morning, just before the heat envelops you in a gentle torpor, slowly drifting toward the shadows of dusk.
I wanted to seize those moments suspended between absolute serenity and immediate nostalgia; because, like all the places that touch us deeply, we have barely arrived before we already regret having to leave.
Umbra Veris was born this way, before being refined year after year, until I added its final touches last year. In the heart of winter, it became a refuge of serenity and so much more.
Today, this fragrance is an invitation to rediscover your own lost paradise — a place where you can lose yourself and finally find peace… in the shadow of spring.

"Ambianceur Crépusculaire" in Citizen K !🌙
I am deeply moved to see Dissident featured in the latest issue of , as part of a special feature on olfactory "counter-culture" alongside other self-taught perfumers whose work I greatly admire.
Ten years ago, I didn’t yet know where my love for perfume would lead me. Naturally, I chose the longest path, but also the most rewarding: formulation. It took eight years of learning and exploration (a true rollercoaster!) before Sleep No More was born in 2024. The exploration continues, and the excitement remains as vivid as ever.
To see this journey and this fragrance described with such elegance and punch by a writer I have admired for so long… it is a truly special moment (I still cherish my bottle of Séville à l'aube)
A heartfelt thank you to Denyse Beaulieu, Louise Metzger for the stunning photos, and the entire team for highlighting these singular paths that make perfumery an art form more alive than ever. 🌑✨

Still on high after an incredible Paris Perfume Week! 🏛️✨

A huge shoutout to team for making Paris the beating heart of global olfactory culture once again. 👏

I also want to say a massive thank you to all the perfume lovers who came to (re)discover my work, the enthusiastic retailers, and the content creators who shared their impressions. Your energy was everything.

As a perfumer, I spend quite some time locked away in my lab, obsessing over formulas and chasing emotions in silence. But right before sharing this new perfume, Umbra Veris, with you, that familiar doubt was still there: will it resonate?

Those doubts vanished with the very first sprays. Seeing your eyes light up and feeling your contagious enthusiasm for this new fragrance reminded me why I do this.

A perfume is a solitary creation, but it only truly comes to life when it starts telling a different story for each of you.

Heading back to the lab with joy, a heart full of inspiration — and quietly grateful for it all.

Paris, c’était magique!

Umbra Veris — the shadow of a spring.
The third chapter.

A fragrance I created as a shelter. When things felt too loud, too unstable, I needed a place to return to.
In the midst of loss and quiet renewal, I kept coming back to this line from a poem that makes me emotional each time I read it :

“Untroubling and untroubled where I lie;
The grass below—above the vaulted sky.” — John Clare

That sense of stillness stayed with me. Umbra Veris is built around it — different shades of green, soft light, and something slightly veiled. A wandering through a lost garden, from morning to dusk. A fragrance like a quiet spell — something to hold onto when everything else slips.

Eager to share it with you for the first time tomorrow at Paris Perfume Week.

Fragrance is not a test.
Sometimes, when I share perfumes with friends or acquaintances, I can sense this need to get it right. They sometimes feel this underlying pressure to recognize specific notes, some even apologize for not recognizing what they’re smelling. But the truth is, it doesn’t matter at all. Emotion really hits when you stop analyzing.
What matters is the reaction. The images that appear instantly, the landscapes that take shape in your mind, the way a scent can catch you off guard.
There is more and more content breaking fragrances down into molecules and structures. In many ways, it’s a wonderful thing — it opens up a world that used to be so secretive.
But in a world where everything needs to be explained and categorized, let’s remember that fragrance offers a rare and precious space to let go.
To stop looking for the raw material, and start looking for the memory.

How it all started…

The fear and the excitement,
the dim lights and the heat…
The blur, the anonymity, and of course the masks.

These are the fragments that paved the way for the creation of Sleep No More.

I’m often asked where and how inspiration comes from when creating a fragrance. The honest answer is: I don’t always know myself. We all encounter visceral moments in life. But when I first stepped into that extraordinary performance in NYC more than ten years ago, I instinctively knew it would stay with me long after it ended. Did I think, even for a second, it would become a fragrance? Absolutely not.

Releasing Sleep No More really felt like an important first chapter — but also the result of years of persistence, exploration, and quiet obsession.

I’m deeply grateful I was able to bring it to life and to see it create new stories all around the world.

Creating in the dead of winter is an act of projection.

For the past few months, surrounded by cold air and grey skies, the vision of a rising spring has been my absolute refuge. I built a magnificent library of artworks for inspiration. This detail of a painting by Thomas Cole is one of my favorites.
A paradise lost where the untamed wilderness makes you yearn for peace.

I long for spring so much...with the help of vitamin D pills !🍀
