WHAT IF CHAIRS COULD TALK - Imagine the stories they could tell!

The whispered secrets, the declarations of love, the heated arguments, the laughter, the tears… and all the gossips!

But here's a thought. What if chairs had opinions of their own?

Would they find us fascinating? Hopelessly romantic? Terribly boring? Or simply ridiculous?

And where better than Paris? After all, conversation is practically a national pastime here! We Parisians can talk for hours, debating everything and nothing, solving the world's problems over a café crème, or simply enjoying a good gossip in the park. It's part of our culture, and we wouldn't have it any other way!

Every time I walk through the Jardin des Tuileries, I look at those iconic green chairs and wonder about the thousands of people who have sat on them.

Some sit alone, lost in thought. Others pull their chairs together for a good chat. And some chairs seem to be having a little conversation of their own!

Just imagine what they've witnessed over the years.

On second thought, perhaps it's best they keep their secrets!

IF PARISIAN DOORS COULD TALK -

There are so many extraordinary doors in Paris, but how often do we really stop to look at them? They are so worth pausing for.

A door can tell you a story before you even cross the threshold.

Look closely at this one, at 47 rue Vieille-du-Temple in the Marais.

Built in the 17th century for the Hôtel Amelot de Bisseuil — where Beaumarchais would later write The Marriage of Figaro — it was never intended to be simply an entrance. It was a calling card.

Its monumental proportions speak of status. Winged allegorical figures preside over the doorway, while putti, classical scenes and elaborate carvings evoke culture, refinement and power. And then, staring back at you from the deep burgundy panels, are two rather formidable faces of Medusa.

They are not there simply to frighten. Since Antiquity, the image of Medusa has been used as a symbol of protection, placed at entrances to ward off evil. Here, she quite literally guards the threshold.

I love the idea that before you entered this house, you were expected to read its clues. Who lived here? What did they value? How did they want the world to see them?

Architecture was a language, and a door could say an extraordinary amount without saying a word.

Perhaps we have simply forgotten how to read them.

So next time you walk through Paris, slow down and look at the doors. You may be surprised by what they have to tell you.

COLOR PALTTE - Every season brings its own palette.
I buy flowers every week, and each time it’s the same little pleasure, rediscovering nature’s beauty and searching for the colors that will set the mood for the week ahead.

Right now, it’s fiery oranges, deep reds, and lush greens. Flowers have this wonderful way of bringing instant warmth and beauty into a home. Sometimes, that simple pop of color is all a room really needs.

FÉNELON AND HIS PIGEON - Who knew a 17th-century archbishop could still hold a crowd? Meet François Fénelon: theologian, royal tutor, literary rebel, and the ultimate 18th-century charmer.The chronicler Saint-Simon gave us one of the most vivid portraits of him ever written, noting that Fénelon was "more coquettish than any woman" and had a passion for pleasing everyone, from servants to kings. He described his intellect as "easy, ingenious, fleuri (refers to a flower)," and famously wrote that Fénelon held the "tap" to his own charm, dispensing just the exact right amount of wit and grace for every single person he met. Fast forward three centuries to Place Saint-Sulpice, and it seems his spell hasn't broken. The local pigeons are still treating his statue like the most irresistible spot in Paris. Some men just never lose their allure. Honestly, I would have dreamed to meet such a brilliant, graceful and witty man!

UNEXPECTED - One of the things I love most is seeing American interior designers interpret Parisian interiors. They bring a different perspective, noticing details we sometimes overlook because they are so familiar to us.
The straw chairs immediately caught my eye. I instinctively associate straw with French country houses, yet it feels perfectly at home in this Parisian apartment. Then there's the contrast between the raw, handcrafted quality of the straw and the glossy emerald green table. One grounds the space, the other gives it attitude. Nothing is predictable; everything is balanced.
Perhaps that's why this room resonates with me. French craftsmanship isn't about preserving the past; it's about giving it new life. Whether it's straw, embroidery, pleating, or fine linen, traditional materials become timeless when they are reinterpreted with a contemporary eye. We should not be afraid to be bold!
