— OWEN JONES LIBRARY: COMPETITION WINNER —

Wilmotte & Associés is honoured to unveil its winning proposal for a new library at the heart of Worcester College, a project that continues the dialogue between architecture, landscape, and history that defines this exceptional campus.

Shaped not by a single core but by a constellation of historic centres—from the Main Quad to the Orchard—the college unfolds as a network of gardens and buildings across eras. The library seeks harmony, not dominance, preserving paths, cottages, and mature trees while reinforcing spatial clarity and the campus’s sense of openness.

Set on the edge of the historic Orchard, the building rises as a discreet belvedere overlooking one of Oxford’s most poetic landscapes. Nature has always framed the academic experience here; façades open to the outdoors, reading rooms on the upper floor frame distant horizons, and terraces connect interior and exterior, making the passing seasons part of the lived experience.

Two superimposed mineral volumes, arranged in a cross-shaped composition, provide a clear and enduring framework. Clipsham limestone, timber, and glass resonate with the college’s material heritage, balancing permanence and transparency. Ground-floor spaces invite exchange and discovery, while upper reading rooms offer calm and light-filled focus, all woven together with gardens, terraces, and planted edges that extend the landscape into daily life.

Developed with as civil and structural engineers, façade and building services designers; Drees & Sommer as cost and risk managers, project managers and building contract administrators, and CDM advisors; as planning consultants; and Donald Insall Associates as heritage consultants.

A place where knowledge, history, and nature converge—where reading becomes inseparable from the landscape, and architecture frames both memory and experience.

— THE STACK: ICONIC AWARDS WINNER —

As part of World Climate Day, Wilmotte & Associés is pleased to reaffirm its commitment to responsible architectural innovation. This year, the agency was honoured at the ICONIC AWARDS, where THE STACK, a next-generation hybrid timber building, was selected among the most innovative material-led projects.

Located just 200 metres north of Munich’s central station, THE STACK forms a gateway to the city and underscores Munich’s ambition to consolidate its role as a major European metropolis with an international outlook.

𝗔 𝗵𝘆𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿–𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝟯𝟬% 𝗖𝗢₂ 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

Combining steel with over 1,800 m³ of responsibly sourced timber, the project significantly lowers its carbon footprint. All material lifecycles are documented through the Madaster material passport, and the building holds both LEED and DGNB Platinum certifications.

𝗔 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆

From its urban insertion to the way its structure, energy strategy and mechanical systems are conceived, the project composes an environmentally attuned structure. Green terraces, planted patios and a fifth “green façade” on the roof weave a continuous relationship between interior and exterior.

Informed by biophilic design principles, THE STACK cultivates spatial conditions proven to support physiological comfort, cognitive clarity and sustained well-being, thereby outlining a forward-looking standard for the architectural cultures of dense urban environments.

— WILMOTTE FOUNDATION – LE FLOU DE VENISE —

The exhibition Renato d’Agostin – Le Flou de Venise will be inaugurated on Thursday, 27 November, in theexhibition space of the Wilmotte Foundation in Venice.

Through eight black-and-white photographs in a 120 × 180 cm format, Renato D’Agostin explores the theme of perceptual uncertainty: the profi le of a church and its bell tower emerges and dissolves into the mist, in a play of appearances and disappearances that transforms the morning gray into photographic material.

Here, grey does not evoke sadness; it evokes suspension. It is the colour of waiting, of the undefined, of a mystery that requires no answers. Within this “blur”, Renato D’Agostin’s photographs reveal a city held in time, magical, evanescent, like a memory that resists capture.

Each shot is a visual poem, a fragment of silence, an invitation to get lost in the invisible that lives between water, stone, and shadow. The contrasts of black and white and the almost dreamlike nuances reveal a more mysterious and intangible essence: not as it appears, but as it is felt. Nothing is still, nothing is sharp. Venice is a mosaic of lights and shadows, of suspended memories, of a beauty that brushes by without ever settling.

BUKHARA, UZBEKISTAN - A MASTERPLAN FOR AN URBAN LIVING HERITAGE
For over ten centuries, Bukhara has stood as a crossroads of knowledge, craftsmanship,
and spiritual culture. Inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1993, the city remains one of the
best-preserved examples of Islamic medieval urbanism.
Wilmotte & Associés was entrusted by the Art and Culture Development Foundation of the
Republic of Uzbekistan to design the Masterplan for the Historic Centre of Bukhara into a
comprehensive framework guiding the city’s sustainable growth while safeguarding its
identity.
Developed between 2023 and 2024 with Deloitte, Setec, Institut Paris Region, RCHeritage,
and Ingelux, the project brings together a multidisciplinary team of experts.
The plan balances preservation and transformation, addressing heritage protection, adaptive
reuse, mobility, and environmental resilience, ensuring the city’s evolution without losing its
soul.
