“I do recognize parallels in Van Gogh’s journey and mine, particularly in the way of navigating the complexities of loneliness, as creating art most of the time is a solitary practice, and the societal expectations placed on artists. Van Gogh was mostly misunderstood in his time and beyond and I can relate to that in the sense that, As artists we often walk a path that doesn’t always align with the mainstream or conventional expectations, and that can make it difficult to find belonging or validation. Personally my parents wanted me to be an engineer, making my artistic journey to them even more confusing, because I had a BSC in policy and strategic studies and they wondered how I would pull off an artistic career.
Like Van Gogh I’ve found that my art is a Way to make sense of these feelings of Isolation and express what words cannot”
