ON COLOUR — colourful interiors, vintage ceramics and collected homes.
I think colour asks for a certain boldness. Black and white can quieten a room; colour lets in contrast, memory and personality.
For me, using colour in an interior is less about choosing a palette and more about allowing things to find one another — a weathered French ceramic, Spanish earthenware, hand-painted tableware, glass, linen, something faded by sunlight or marked by age.
Perhaps that is what I love about vintage ceramics and old objects. Colour carries place and time. Glazes soften, surfaces change and the small irregularities become part of their beauty.
A collected home doesn’t need to feel perfect. A little less controlled. A little more instinctive. More personal.
Colour asks for a certain boldness. Perhaps the boldest thing is simply choosing what you love.
