🌹 The not so glamorous side of being a florist… 🌹

I thought I’d show you a little glimpse of what actually goes on behind the scenes at Ivy & Rose Florist.

Every week I de-thorn what feels like THOUSANDS of roses and honestly, some of the thorns on these things are ridiculous! 😂

I mean… just look at them! 🌵🌹

I’ve put one next to my thumbnail so you can actually see the size of them... I’m not exaggerating! 😂

Every single rose has to be conditioned and de-thorned by hand before it goes into a bouquet. It’s one of those jobs that definitely doesn’t look quite as pretty as the finished product!

Lots of little cuts, sore fingers and a rather impressive pile of thorns later… I eventually get there. 😂

You see the beautiful bouquets leaving the shop, but you don’t always see the hours of work that go into getting every flower looking its best.

Would I rather be arranging the flowers? Absolutely! 😂

But I have to admit, when you see the finished bouquets all coming together, it makes the thorn battle worth it. ❤️🌹

So next time you get a bouquet of roses from Ivy & Rose Florist, spare a thought for my poor fingers! 😂🌹

Hello! 👋

Just a little post, incase you’ve been wondering where I’ve disappeared to on here…! 😂 I’m still very much here, just absolutely snowed under with weddings, events, everyday orders and all the behind-the-scenes chaos that comes with being an independent florist! 💐

My little shop has been keeping me very busy, which is amazing and I’m so incredibly grateful for every single order, bouquet and event I get to be part of. ❤️

So, apologies for the lack of posts and updates. I’m still creating, arranging, delivering and generally surrounded by flowers 24/7 — I’ve just not been very good at remembering to actually post the photos! 🤪

I’ll try my best to get back to posting more regularly, because there are so many gorgeous things I’ve been working on that I’d love to share with you. 🌷

Thank you for keeping my little independent florist business soooo busy. It really does mean the world. 💕🌿

Now, back to the flowers… and maybe I’ll remember to pick up my phone this time! 😂📱💐

One Whole Year at 48 Cross Street! 📍🔑

I cannot believe it's been a year since I opened the doors to my shop for the first time! 🤯 What a year it's been... so many events, occasions and lovely customers. 🌸

From weddings to funerals and more Bouquets than I can count, it's been a whirlwind of a year. 💐 I am super grateful for the support I have received from Abergavenny and of course my customers who live closer to home too.

🌞 Annual Leave Notice 🌞

Ivy & Rose Florist will be closed for Annual Leave from Tuesday 30th June and will re-open Monday 13th July.

I am taking a few days off to have a rest and find some sun! ⛱️

A heads up if you're planning on visiting the shop over the next few days...🌸

We are OPEN as usual, however...

⛱️ The blinds will be closed from around lunchtime onwards. When the sun comes around, the shop is like a greenhouse!! 🥵
I am trying my hardest to keep the heat out and off the flowers. Even my air conditioning unit is struggling!! ☀️

💐My flower buckets might look empty in the front of the shop however I still have my usual huge range of flowers available. I just have a few on display and the rest are in my stockroom keeping cool. ❄️
More than happy to show you what I've got available in the storeroom! ☺️

Although the blinds may be closed, I am very much OPEN. The door will be propped open hoping for a slight breeze 🤞So please do pop in and say hello! 👋
