How evil can a small ring be?

Apparently quite evil.

Oxidised sterling silver with bronze details, completely handmade evil from scratch.

20 seconds to a ridiculous mirror shine.

A very simple silver ring, taken umm.. too far at the polishing stage. Hah!

Recycled sterling silver, handmade in Kent.

Bronze does not cooperate.

A fairly aggressive start, followed by the calmer business of filing, drilling and texturing.

Made from bronze and recycled sterling silver. Definitely a material combination that likes to make you earn the finished piece.

Trust the ugly stage.

Silver, brass, soldering, carving, filing, polishing… and eventually it started to make sense.

Handmade in Kent.

This one fought me all the way.

A mistake early on meant a fair bit of undoing, rebuilding and 'persuading' before this 15mm bronze and silver monster finally started behaving.

Around 2mm thick, so forming and carving it was not exactly delicate work.

Eventually it turned into this huge, heavily carved orange bronze band.

Worth the fight, I think.

Handmade in Kent.

This one looks a little bit like it’s on fire.

The surface is made by fusing sterling silver onto bronze, then hammering and polishing everything back until the two metals start to flow visually into one another.

Because the silver spreads irregularly across the bronze, the pattern changes quite dramatically with the light. In some angles it looks almost molten, with bright silver, deep orange bronze and darker reflections moving across the surface.

No two should ever come out exactly the same.

Handmade in Kent from bronze and recycled 925 sterling silver.

From scrap silver to electric blue.

This one starts with recycled sterling silver and a fairly rough-and-ready build, then changes completely during the oxidation stage.

The colour moves through yellows-orange-pink-red before settling into this vivid finish.

The process is messy. The result is not.

Handmade in Kent from recycled 925 sterling silver.

Meet "Still moving"

Sterling silver meets molten brass in a heavy statement band that looks like a tectonic seam. Liquid, reflective, and slightly wild. I’ve been loving the process of mixing these metals at the bench. Each piece is hand-fused, meaning the surface flow on every single ring is completely unique to you.

To celebrate adding this new design to the lineup, I’m running a 15% off introductory sale for the next two weeks!

Hit the link in my bio or head straight to roboatesjewellery.etsy.com to grab yours before the launch price ends.

The quiet grit of oxidised silver against a flash of polished light. I love exploring this contrast , the rough and the smooth, the dark and the bright. It’s like a tiny, wearable landscape.

This one has now been sold, but you can find its siblings in my Etsy store. Link in bio.
