Great project to work on from concept to launch.
Thanks for the support!
Our school has recently benefited from a significant opportunity made possible through the support of Ciaran Collins (CiCo), whose efforts helped us secure a grant from The James Kane Foundation . This funding enabled our pupils to participate in an ambitious STEM project that has now transformed our school grounds.
Thanks to this project—and to the imagination and problem‑solving skills of our P4, P5 and P6 pupils—we are proud to unveil a brand‑new lean‑to structure on our site. The final design was directly inspired by the models and prototypes created by our pupils using Minecraft Education and hands‑on materials. Their ideas shaped the project from the very beginning.
We are also deeply grateful to the partners who made this initiative such a success:
OHM Engineering : Their engineers visited classrooms, introduced our pupils to real‑world engineering thinking, and generously built a new storage unit for the school as a gift.
MEGA- Manufacturing & Engineering Growth & Advancement : They coordinated the entire programme and played a key role in connecting us with industry expertise.
McElhatton Joinery : Their team took our pupils’ concepts and brought them to life in the form of the completed lean‑to.
Thank you to the Tyrone Courier for sharing the story today!
Our younger and older pupils—P1, P2 and P7—also enjoyed hands‑on STEM taster sessions, ensuring the experience reached learners across the school.
This project has been a powerful example of what can be achieved when schools, industry partners and the wider community work together.
It also perfectly embodies our School Council motto: “You said… we did!”
