Support local and add a little artistry and originality into your home with this month’s pick of Irish brands and makers.
BYLULU - Based in Co. Laois, maker Louise O’Hegarty creates joyful, handcrafted home accessories that celebrate colour, pattern and the beauty of the finishing touch.
ANNA SMYTH - County Down ceramicist Anna Smyth creates contemporary porcelain vessels that blur the line between art and function. Combining elegant sculptural forms with a fascination for glaze chemistry, her work is inspired by the natural world and finished with her signature crystalline glazes.
ÉIRE BOTANICA - Inspired by the wild beauty of the Irish landscape, Monika Dembek of Éire Botanica creates intricate botanical relief sculptures that celebrate the natural world.
EMMA HIGGINS - Bold, colourful and instantly uplifting, Emma Higgins’ contemporary artwork brings a fresh perspective to Ireland’s landscapes and florals. Based in Dublin, the award-nominated artist draws on her background in Textile Design from NCAD to create vibrant paintings and prints defined by clean lines, joyful colour and a modern aesthetic.
LYNDA M MCDONALD - Textile artist Lynda M McDonald creates richly textured embroidered works inspired by the beauty of imperfection. Combining hand and machine embroidery, her pieces are influenced by the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi – finding beauty in the weathered, the worn and the transient.
MY TRIBE - Galway designer Michelle Hynes is the creative force behind My Tribe, a striking collection of handcrafted wearable glass art that reimagines ancient Irish symbolism for a contemporary audience. A sculpture graduate of LSAD, Michelle has spent almost three decades honing her craft at her family-run business.
