Handles, scaled up for larger doors and for opening integrated appliances.

These and the detailing in general was influenced by our previous reincarnation of the Frank Guille designed Trimma Kitchen.

The living area side of the hatch is surrounded by shelving and storage behind sliding doors, the same detailing as the kitchen and sideboard to the right.

Quite tricky to set out and ensure all the junctions form as they should, more so when you consider the first item of the kitchen to be installed, even before any cabinets, was the stainless steel worktop which had a fixed position due to the garchey.

Looking through the hatch towards the living area and windows.

Look a bit closer and you’ll see the Sapele surface to the bottom of the hatch is 29mm thick, to match the front edge of the original and new stainless steel worktops.

Also, see the flush Corian panels to the end of each worktop. The builder had a reluctance to read drawings so we inherited this part of the project to make it work. Always willing to help where possible.

The bathroom at the Barbican.

The same materials and detailing as the other parts of the project. The vanity unit was hung on high specification steel brackets, all to line up perfectly allowing for a silicone bead at the same height as the grouting in the tiles.

Admittedly I’m not so sure about the dark and moody image here, think I’m more for light and airy. What do you think? Dark and Moody or Light and Airy?

Perhaps got away with it this time.

The kitchen opposite the hob. This originally had a laminate faced chipboard worktop, but was upgraded to a small stainless steel worktop with a recessed surface.

The splashback is Corian, a lighter colour to reflect the light from the original electrical fitting and light above. The hatch is visible to the right.

I’ve recently been told by a few people to create more quality content, videos are what people like.

Clients often ask what type of kitchen I have? A kitchen no money can buy, a magic kitchen.

Here’s a demonstration.

New project just uploaded to the Standforth.co.uk website.

A project at Andrewes House where we created a new kitchen, fitted furniture, wardrobes and bathroom vanity unit.

I feel like I could write a book about the process, trials and tribulations, but some nice photos over the coming weeks will have to do.

The images above is of the controls for the kitchen hobs, these were cleaned and kept original while the grey electric and lighting panel along with the stainless steel worktop were refurbished and integrated into the new kitchen.

Some slightly older antiques in the background.

A degrease and deep clean first, then a couple of mild abrasives will be used. We want to keep the decades of wear and tear rather than over restoring the surface.

There’s paint, adhesive and limescale to tackle, I guess the guys who decorated the flat were a bit clumsy when washing their equipment in there.

One part of the kitchen completed.
This elevation is a fixed size determined by the integrated fridge freezer and the steel electric panel above the drawers which is away being refurbished.

A bespoke stainless steel worktop will be fitted above the drawers.

Being over half a century old the original electrical panels and extractor opening need to be restored.

We’ve delivered them to a finishing specialist to be stripped and powder coated to match the original grey and white they were. The original switches, sockets and controls are being kept.

Note the shovel in the first picture, a lot of abrasive has been moved with that!
