It’s been a very difficult year for any type of farming!!
Managed to pull out a chunk of positivity, passion and energy to create Holly and Josh’s wedding designs. So so delighted with them!!

A little reel to show the creations start to finish. I had to buy in some of the flowers to get the bright colours they wanted, a small amount of reds & yellow from the wholesale; also some fabulous Statice, Dahlias, cosmos, yellow Yarrow and a beautiful bright orange Zinnia (see if you can spot it!) from Vicky and Stuart :)

I used mainly my own materials to create the designs: Foliage was Hedgerow, Eucalyptus, Raspberry leaf, Chick Pea, Grasses (Panicum)
Flowers - Crocosmia, Marigolds (3 varieties), Zinnias (so reliable), Dahlias, Delphiniums, Rudbeckia

The venue was stunning. Would highly recommend - a beautiful countryside location and immaculate gardens, buildings 💚💚

Finally a post!
Lots of love & care going into my confetti prep today for wedding flowers and designs at the end of this week.

Thank goodness for the cooler weather today. The heat has been nothing short of a physical and mental battle recently and I’ve struggled in it not going to lie.

I’m looking forwards to creating some beautiful wedding designs this week and spending this weekend getting organised, making a plan, doing a stem count, washing and prepping materials and … tidying the workspace (not my fav job!)

It’s a constant battle! Flower farming currently - dealing with very challenging weather and then seemingly everything living outside trying to make it even harder. I’ve got a mouse in the tunnel (actually saw him happily eating something the other day), birds constantly in there poking at the ground (but I can tolerate this), some tiny black insect munching my Dahlia petals (no idea what it is but do not want to spray anything), and now these pointless (not v pleasant) creatures having a party in the flower beds at night (Badgers).

It’s lucky there are some good insects out there and I have to remember that; like my amazing army of ladybirds earlier this year that saved so many of my plants from aphids and other small bugs.

With the pleasure I get from growing plants/flower farming I am also well aware that there are so many barriers and challenges that come with it; I wonder how long ill be able to keep my head up. I think more poly tunnels is the answer .. but; note to self … SHUT THE DOORS ! 😵‍💫🙄😢

A couple of weeks ago the Sweet Peas told me they were on their way out. Everyone elses’ seemed to have gone too - the heat being too much for them... 5 days ago I took out the first lot of Sweet Peas and was planning on taking out the Spring sown ones later this week. But they are pulling on my heart strings and have kept going more due to the cooler mornings and evenings and if I’m honest; I don’t want to say goodbye to them! 2 years ago I swore I’d not bother growing them again - too high maintenance and last 2 days in a vase but there is something about them so beautiful and the scent is literally like nothing else. So I can’t let them go just yet!!!!

Last pic - when they were tiny and you never believed they’d end up what they were.. Putting up the net for them to grow up back in March/April

Mostly buy my seed from Roger Parsons Sweet Peas but I did buy a lovely variety earlier today (thinking next year already) from kimberly fleming ~ the marlston farmgirl

Will be more in 2027 here at Whitelands !!!

Recent wedding work!! I’ve been busy and not had time to post as much as I’d like to have done. Have really enjoyed creating these lovely designs for the equally lovely people that choose me to do their wedding flowers 🩷💜

Some recent pics from the flower farm! Lots of beautiful things appearing now.. my Delphinium bed has landed too ..
other things growing are: snap dragons (batch 2), larkspur (batch 2), achillea, Limonium, Rudbeckia, Scabious (blues, whites, purples), sweet peas, Roses (!! Pinks, purples & Reds), grasses (Setaria & Panicum Sprinkles), foliage (Chickpea & Ninebark), sunflowers & Hydrangeas!!
