So exciting to receive this book cloth delivery last week! I only had a chance to have a proper look today. I got it specifically for my new bookbinding workshop at Belfast Castle on Sunday 13 September! Link in bio to sign up; one space has already been snapped up!

There are two new designs! Very different in style but I think they’ll look beautiful as hardback books! Which one is your favourite?! The cute floral one; the William Morris inspired; the classic Toile de Jouy or the gorgeous Art Deco?! All stunning in their own way!!

This wasn’t just a quick browse for the sake of it! This was a proper scoping sesh to see if I could hold one of my Irish linen/leather journal bookbinding workshops here!

Can you believe how exciting it would be to sit inside this historic pumphouse?! With Thompson Dry Dock just outside; while making beautiful books or leather journals dedicated to Belfast’s shipbuilding history?!!

I’m getting goosebumps!! Bookbinding workshop details hopefully being published soon!

They’re clearly very different ships but being from the same era, I couldn’t help but draw a few comparisons between HMS Caroline and RMS Titanic in terms of the interior and particularly how Third Class probably looked aboard Titanic.

Fascinating to see those familiar rivets, the anti-fouling paint (reddish brown), the funnels and the water-tight doors.

Have you ever been to HMS Caroline and did it remind you of how life might have looked aboard Titanic as a Third Class passenger?!

It was only a matter of time…before I held my Irish linen bookbinding workshops in AN ACTUAL SHIP! More details coming soon! With an additional outstanding, maritime themed location!

So excited to bring you more unique, truly immersive experiences that celebrate Belfast’s shipbuilding history!

There’s no doubt about it! Visiting the Titanic Quarter, where Titanic Hotel and Titanic Belfast is situated, is full on! You can EASILY spend two/three days in this area alone! There is so much to see and learn in terms of Belfast’s shipbuilding history and obviously the Titanic story.

I’m Belfast born and live in the city but I still find it a thrill to spend quality time in this area of Belfast. Highly recommended!
