🌿 Meet Marlowe | A Willowstone Edit Transformation 🌿

Some pieces are a pleasure to transform. Others make you work a little harder for the finished result!

Marlowe definitely falls into the second category! 🤎

This lovely acacia wood bench has been carefully restored, bringing its beautiful natural grain and character back into the spotlight.

His top has been finished in a warm walnut tone, beautifully complemented by deep charcoal legs in Fusion Mineral Paint UK Fusion Mineral Paint's Ash and Walnut Stain.

And because I love those little unexpected details, I've added a delicate, almost-hidden feather stencil to just one leg. A subtle finishing touch that makes Marlowe uniquely his own.

It's been a journey getting him here, but I think he's been worth every minute.

Marlowe will soon be available, once his final protective finish is complete.

Hand-restored with care by Willowstone Edit, Berkhamsted. 🌿

🌿Marlowe and I have had a few disagreements along the way… 😂
But after plenty of sanding and a bit of persistence, we’re finally back to the good bit.
Another coat of walnut going on today, ready for that lovely contrast with his Fusion Ash base. 🤎🖤
He’s making me work for it, this one — but I think he’s going to be worth it. 🌿

🌿Well, Marlowe has certainly made me work for it… but we’re getting there! 😅
What looked like a straightforward refresh turned into a bit of a wrestling match once some old sanding marks revealed themselves under the stain. So, back we went — more sanding, more patience, and a fair bit of muttering along the way 😂
But that’s the thing with restoring furniture: sometimes the piece decides the pace.
He’s now ready for the next stage this afternoon, and I’m really looking forward to seeing the deeper walnut tones alongside the Fusion Ash finish I’ve planned for the base. I’m also keeping one little Willowstone Edit detail up my sleeve… 🌿
Not finished yet, but definitely moving in the right direction 💪

🌿Meet Marlowe 🤎
Serenity now has a brother.
Picked up for just £10, Marlowe is a solid little acacia wood bench with a beautiful mixed-grain top that I’m planning to warm up with a walnut finish and pair with a Fusion Mineral Paint UK Ash skirt and legs and a little botanical detail🌿
Today’s progress: old varnish off, previous sanding marks uncovered, 120 grit complete… and then I discovered I’d run out of 180 grit 🤦‍♀️😂
So Marlowe is currently upside down, patiently waiting for tomorrow’s sanding and paint delivery.
🌿Furniture restoration: 40% creativity, 40% sanding, 20% realising you’ve run out of the exact thing you need.🌿
More soon… 🤎

Edward has found his new home! 🥰🌿
I’m so pleased to say this lovely piece has now SOLD and has headed off to his new owner.
There’s something very satisfying about taking a piece of furniture that still has plenty of life left in it, giving it some care and attention, and then seeing someone else fall for it. ❤️
Thank you, as always, for following along and supporting Willowstone Edit — every like, share, comment and recommendation really does help my little furniture adventure grow.
Onwards to the next one… 😄🌿

A little inspiration from my weekend away. Sometimes stepping away from the day job and workshop is exactly what's needed before creating something beautiful. 🌿
