Yep mating season
— that’s the classic, no-fuss method! CONKERS 🏡🕷️ Loads of people swear by it, super simple.
🕷️ How to do it right:
- Pick fresh ones — September/October is peak season. Dried ones lose their power, so swap every 2–3 weeks or when they start shrivelling
- Scatter them along the sill, in corners, by window frames — anywhere spiders might creep in
- Whole or cut? Whole = tidier. Cut/halved = some say releases more saponins, but goes mouldy faster
- Do it inside & outside sills for extra coverage
🤔 The truth behind it:
It’s old folklore — no hard science proving it works, but the saponins conkers give off might put spiders off. Loads of UK households do it and reckon it works! 🤷♂️
💡 Bonus tip:
Mix with peppermint oil on cotton wool balls between them — double whammy, smells nicer too! 🌿
