Are perceptions of working on-site still stuck in the past? 👷‍♀️

For years, construction sites have carried certain stereotypes. But how much has the reality actually changed?

We sat down with our Senior Project Manager, Gemma Kenyon, to talk about her experience working on-site, how the industry has evolved and why challenging outdated perceptions matters if we want to attract more people into construction.

From changing attitudes to building more inclusive project teams, Gemma shares her perspective from the other side of the hoarding.

To help understand some of the misconceptions around women working in construction, we asked Gemma to share her views on young people getting into the sector.

Last week, some of the Rhino team enjoyed a day out at the annual JCB Charity Golf Day. ⛳

No wins for us this time… but a great day, great company and, most importantly, all for a brilliant cause.

Thanks to the JCB team for having us!

At Calor, the brief wasn't just to refurbish an office. It was about creating a workplace that reflected their people, culture and commitment to sustainability.

Working within a live environment, we transformed the space into a modern, flexible workplace with natural materials, biophilic design and collaborative areas that encourage people to come together.

Watch the video below to see the transformation and read more about how we delivered a workspace designed for the future.

The way Calor work has changed and we have helped them cretae their new working environment and create a more engaging office space for their people.

This is a great example of how an established, traditional business has embraced a new approach to work and we are all thrilled with the result. This project was a real success of a strong relationship and clear vision from the start.

We will be sharing the full case study soon so watch this space đź‘€

Birmingham is full of exciting original buildings and another one just went up for sale in the commercial district.

The Old Stock Exchange building on Margaret Street is one of those special heritage properities that presents an exciting opportunity for regeneration into a stylish new workspace or other use.

Similar to the regeneration projects we took on at King Edward House and 10 Colmore Row is a great example of how the characterful buildings in Birmingham stand out as great options for developers and/or businesses.

With the Birmingham office market seeing take up for Q1 2026 up 45% on Q1 in 2025, the demand and confidence in Birmingham is growing. As the supply of top quality space is still limited, the opportunity to take on period properties and regenerate them is fantastic chance to work in a central location and still be in a quality building.

This is a trend we have seen happening across the city in recent years and has emerged as a key part of a number of projects we have delivered, and continue to work on, in the city centre.

Delivering projects to meet a client’s needs, timeline and budget is more about adaptability and flexibility than it is sticking rigidly to the original plan.

Having handed over the Cat A refurb at 10 Colmore Row as part of our ongoing refurbishment works at the Great Western Arcade, Paul Sheppard shared his reflections on how this scheme ultimately became a success.

Every project requires a unique approach but where we’ve seen real success is by following a reliable process and building a team of trusted suppliers to help us move towards the same goal.

10 Colmore Row is a great example of that and we’re really proud of the new office space that we’ve delivered at this important building in Birmingham city centre.
