🍂 A little autumn enchantment has arrived… 🍂

✨I’ve always loved the richness of autumn, and for this display, I wanted to capture that feeling of a sumptuous, storybook vignette, but with an unexpected twist. The colour palette takes its inspiration from those beautiful autumn evenings when the last warm colours of the season sit beneath a deep midnight-blue sky — burnished russets, coppery orange and earthy woodland browns are set against rich navy velvet and timeless blue-and-white toile. 🍂💙

✨The wreath is layered and abundant, with deep autumn foliage woven amongst velvet pumpkins, chrysanthemums, acorns, pinecones and sculptural lotus seed pods. Against this are flashes of deep midnight navy, echoing the colour of an autumn night sky, and timeless toile, finished with a statement double bow.

✨The matching window arrangement spills across the sill in the same palette — an abundance of trailing foliage, autumn flowers, pumpkins and woodland textures are interspersed with flashes of blue-and-white. The garland is flanked by two matching ceramic pumpkins, standing tall like stately pottery sentinels. The effect is as though a sprinkling of Delft treasures has been scattered through an enchanted autumn garden. 🍂

✨I loved giving traditional autumn decor a Chinoiserie tweak. Who says autumn has to be just orange and brown? I love how the familiar copper tones and earthy browns come alive against those rich vibrant blues and crisp blue-and-white patterns. A quirky combination to be sure, and I was initially worried the overall effect would be a little jarring, but somehow these colours just complement each other, I think. 💙🍊

✨This is autumn at its most opulent — burnished leaves, woodland browns and coppery sunsets meet the deep, dark blue of a night sky. Warm, cosy and just a little bit magical.

🍂 Hello, Autumn. I’ve been waiting for you. 🍁✨

✨ September has arrived, and there is something about the first days of autumn that always feels like coming home to me.

✨A lot of people mourn the passing of the warmer months as the days get shorter, the temperature drops and the evenings draw in. But for me, it’s the opposite. I feel myself come alive and sometimes, I think I must be the only person in the world with seasonal affective disorder… in reverse! 🍂
For me, autumn isn’t simply an aesthetic or a collection of things I enjoy decorating with. There is something about this season that genuinely changes the way I feel. The darker evenings don’t close the world in for me — they make it feel cosier, calmer and somehow more magical.

✨My favourite season. My happiest time of year. The beginning of months of making, decorating, reading, wandering, gathering and creating. For, all you Autumn lovers out there, consider this your invitation to grab a pumpkin and join my coven!

From piles of foliage, pumpkins and branches scattered across the floor to this… my autumn entranceway is finally coming to life. 🎃🍁

I wanted it to feel abundant, warm and a little bit whimsical — layers and layers of autumn leaves, pumpkins, berries, sunflowers, eucalyptus and winding branches, with tiny houses, stars and twinkling lights tucked amongst it all. ✨🏡

I absolutely love this stage, when all those individual bits and pieces finally come together and the whole thing starts to feel magical. 🍂

And because this is Lois Loves Whimsy, there was really no such thing as too much autumn. 😂🎃

✨The autumn prep has officially begun! From piles of foliage and prepping stems, to building the base structure, adding those gorgeous autumn colours and, of course, far too many cable ties! 😂

✨This is the bit you don’t always see — all the cutting, attaching, checking, tweaking and layering that goes on behind the scenes before an autumn porch really starts to come to life.

✨The base foliage is on, the lights are going in, the florals are prepped… and there’s still plenty more to come. 🍁✨

✨ Growth isn’t always dramatic. It doesn’t always look like big announcements or overnight change. Sometimes it’s just choosing hope when it would be easier to give up to despair. Sometimes it’s believing in yourself just a little more than you did yesterday. Sometimes it’s simply not giving up. Even if this growth was invisible, it doesn’t mean it wasn’t powerful.

✨ This time of the year signals the transition from winter into spring. There is a buzz in the air that fills you with energy. Each day feels lighter. Tomorrow feels full of possibility. Be brave, clear mental space; declutter all of your doubts, negativity, and self-criticism. Maybe try something new, say yes to new opportunities that come your way, and trust that good things are abundant and you deserve all of them.

✨ Let yourself feel excited about what’s ahead. Let yourself imagine more. You don’t have to rush the process — just keep turning towards the light.

✨ The Coral Blush basket has a lush, vintage feel to it. Think warm, romantic nights in an English rose garden at dusk.

✨ A brown wicker trug basket forms the base, and it’s overflowing with over 50 individual flower heads in pink and cream with additional green foliage to complement. Warm coral-pink blooms of layered dahlias and roses are mixed with creamy white flowers, generously arranged to give it a full, abundant look.

✨ Fresh green foliage spills out around the edges, with feathery fern-like leaves and sprigs of eucalyptus that soften the shape and add movement. There are also tiny white berry-like details and dusky pink filler flowers woven through, which give it texture and a slightly wild, natural feel.

✨In my other walk of life, my job can be very busy & stressful. I am definitely not a stranger to burnout. Spending time just replenishing and focusing on my overall wellbeing definitely helps, but I struggle with the guilt of procrastinating and not being up-to-date with the tasks of daily life or doing something more “productive” with my time. The unfinished lists can feel heavy, like a quiet judgement in the background. But after a very challenging year, I’m learning that slowing down isn’t failure.
