From piles of foliage, pumpkins and branches scattered across the floor to this… my autumn entranceway is finally coming to life. 🎃🍁

I wanted it to feel abundant, warm and a little bit whimsical — layers and layers of autumn leaves, pumpkins, berries, sunflowers, eucalyptus and winding branches, with tiny houses, stars and twinkling lights tucked amongst it all. ✨🏡

I absolutely love this stage, when all those individual bits and pieces finally come together and the whole thing starts to feel magical. 🍂

And because this is Lois Loves Whimsy, there was really no such thing as too much autumn. 😂🎃

✨The autumn prep has officially begun! From piles of foliage and prepping stems, to building the base structure, adding those gorgeous autumn colours and, of course, far too many cable ties! 😂

✨This is the bit you don’t always see — all the cutting, attaching, checking, tweaking and layering that goes on behind the scenes before an autumn porch really starts to come to life.

✨The base foliage is on, the lights are going in, the florals are prepped… and there’s still plenty more to come. 🍁✨

✨ Growth isn’t always dramatic. It doesn’t always look like big announcements or overnight change. Sometimes it’s just choosing hope when it would be easier to give up to despair. Sometimes it’s believing in yourself just a little more than you did yesterday. Sometimes it’s simply not giving up. Even if this growth was invisible, it doesn’t mean it wasn’t powerful.

✨ This time of the year signals the transition from winter into spring. There is a buzz in the air that fills you with energy. Each day feels lighter. Tomorrow feels full of possibility. Be brave, clear mental space; declutter all of your doubts, negativity, and self-criticism. Maybe try something new, say yes to new opportunities that come your way, and trust that good things are abundant and you deserve all of them.

✨ The Coral Blush basket has a lush, vintage feel to it. Think warm, romantic nights in an English rose garden at dusk.

✨ A brown wicker trug basket forms the base, and it’s overflowing with over 50 individual flower heads in pink and cream with additional green foliage to complement. Warm coral-pink blooms of layered dahlias and roses are mixed with creamy white flowers, generously arranged to give it a full, abundant look.

✨ Fresh green foliage spills out around the edges, with feathery fern-like leaves and sprigs of eucalyptus that soften the shape and add movement. There are also tiny white berry-like details and dusky pink filler flowers woven through, which give it texture and a slightly wild, natural feel.

✨In my other walk of life, my job can be very busy & stressful. I am definitely not a stranger to burnout. Spending time just replenishing and focusing on my overall wellbeing definitely helps, but I struggle with the guilt of procrastinating and not being up-to-date with the tasks of daily life or doing something more “productive” with my time. The unfinished lists can feel heavy, like a quiet judgement in the background. But after a very challenging year, I’m learning that slowing down isn’t failure.
