Kali, painted with wool. She is going to be part of a larger piece of work inspired by memories of watching wild Tigers in a bamboo forest in India, but I could resist taking a few portrait pictures before moving on. 😄

I feel very privileged to have seen a number of wild tigers whilst travelling in India, and watching their blend of grace, power, beauty and apex predator energy is awe inspiring. 😊

"Kafue Queen"

A portrait of a Zambiain lioness, from a photograph I took in Kafue National Park, Zambia, in 2006. The collage background contains my original map of the area, some currency, traditional african fabrics bought whilst I was there, some mono-prints, mulberry bark and earth pigment paints.

She's a very special, personal piece that has brought me full circle to my love of Africa, it's wildlife, and it's colours. It's been 18 months since I conceived the piece and it has led me on a journey of experimentation and learning that has firmly set me on a new path with wildlife art and animal portraits. ❤️

An new group I'm involved with, and an exciting new event I am helping to organise this summer! 😃

Textile Artists North Devon are excited to introduce our inaugural event, Appledore Textile Art Exhibition and Appledore Textile & Fibre Arts & Crafts Fair. We are uniting local textile and fibre artists and makers in a unique 2 day showcase in June. Please get in touch if you are interested in selling space at the fair. 🙂
