South East view of Windsor Castle from the deer park (Issued Plate 4). William Daniell's last great artistic work was produced between 1827 and 1830. Over this time he became interested in the scenery around Windsor. . . . Sutton writes of this series: β€œThese twelve prints are the finest aquatints ever made, standing alone at the highest possible peak: aquatint could go no further, and although attempts have been made by others to excel them, none succeeded. The prints were made in Daniell's usual way, engraved by himself from his own drawings, and published by himself at 14, Russell Place, Fitzroy Square.” 😎

"The Colourist" Today colouring is still being added to maps . . . Importantly with antique maps there are those maps which simply should not be coloured and were never intended to be coloured . . . Sadly many maps have been greatly devalued by hand colour being added that was poorly executed, or simply lacks knowledge of what’s in keeping with the period . . . With my own approach I prefer to apply map colour as close as sympathetically possible according to the contemporary colour of each map maker. With many of the more simply decorated maps of the 18th century there is a broader scope for colour variation however staying within the certain acceptable norms works best and tends to have more appeal to buyers . . . 😎 If you are looking to have antique maps or prints coloured get in touch . . . 😎 Info Link: https://bit.ly/3CTs2a1

Prints from James Jenkins "The Naval Achievements of Great Britain From the Year 1793 to 1817" Bombardment of Algiers, Aug 27th 1816. Capture of the Island of Banda, Aug 9th 1810. Capture of Argus, Aug 14th 1813. Capture of Le Sparviere, May 3rd 1810. "As a record of naval events spanning a period of over twenty years it has no precedent. At no time prior to 1817 had a publisher attempted such a complete volume of documentary naval prints. It is the quality of accuracy which makes Jenkins so valuable" Roger Quarm curator of pictures at the National Maritime Museum 1998 . . . 😎More here: https://bit.ly/3QZDbKE
