Today I visited my painting Exmoor Mist at the Studio KIND Art Exhibition in Barnstaple Pannier Market. Seeing it surrounded by so much creativity was a lovely reminder that every painting begins with a quiet moment of curiosity.

This piece was an experiment. A chance to stretch beyond where I usually feel comfortable, to loosen up, try something different, and bring a little sea light into my newly painted hall. It may not be my strongest work, but it has already done exactly what I hoped it would. Every painting teaches me something, and this one reminds me that art doesn’t always have to be about creating a masterpiece. Sometimes it’s simply about creating a feeling.

Feeling incredibly grateful (and if I’m honest, a little humbled) to have my painting Exmoor Mist selected for the Studio KIND Summer Open 2026.

To see my work hanging alongside so many talented artists is a real honour.

If you’re nearby, the exhibition runs from 11th July to 15th August, and there’s a wonderful mix of contemporary work to discover.

Delight begins with those quiet early morning paddles, where the water is crystal clear and every ripple catches the light. The colours stay with me long after I’ve left the shore and find their way into my paintings. Some places never really let you leave.

Sugar sand beneath the board, crystal clear water all around, and soft pink boulders glowing in the morning light. These are the moments I carry back to the studio. Every painting begins with a feeling.
