Inspired by my clever floristry friends I've been collecting bits from charity shops to plant bulbs into. These little soup bowls were £5.50 for all 6 and the hyacinths were reduced at the garden centre yesterday. All in all these worked out at about £2 each and once I've dotted them around the house will make every room smell yumpcious.

I LOVE Christmas but it also feels good to have the house a bit less cluttered and a little cleaner!

My 2 favourite non fiction books of the year. I heard Charles Clover speak earlier this year and his latest book Rewilding The Sea is vital reading, explaining in layman's terms why we need to act now on preserving our seas and oceans. The Book of Wilding gives actionable help and advice on what we can all do in our own gardens and communities to welcome nature in and help heal our world.

It might be the Christmas season but my head is already in the springtime.
The wonderful Sean Anthony Pritchard, House & Garden Magazine and Chelsea Physic Garden have all been obsessing over Pelargoniums in the last 6 months and I have to say I'm right there with them. Forget the scarlet, plastic potted, bedding plant variety, instead we're talking divinely scented leaves, delicate star like blooms and silver velvet foliage. The sheer cornucopia of varieties means that there is something for everyone, even a coca-cola scented one (Cola-Bottles) which my boys all love.
The national collection is up at Fibrex Nurseries in Stratford-upon-Avon but will be broken up and rehomed between the RHS and English Heritage later this summer so, if like me, a Geranium makes you giddy get there before it's too late.

So my general obsession with all things Fatsia continues. I've been trying to find a xFatshedera lizei (a Fatsia and Ivy cross) in the local garden centres and failing miserably. Today lovely John my tutor at college found one in the wilds at Cannington and took some cuttings for me. The best early Christmas present ever? Absolutely!

Totally geeking out today with a day of learning grafting techniques. This makes me VERY happy.
