Boxing Day blues…
Like the Sunday-Scaries on steroids, the Boxing Day blues can hit hard.
The lull after the storm.
All of the emotions known to man suddenly see a space to crash through cracks where there was no room before.
It is a hangover of all things, even if you are tee-total, like me.
If you feel this mood descend upon you today, remember, you are not alone.
It is as common as eating leftovers for breakfast and it is just as much a part of our humanity.
Your worries and fears will line themselves up in front of your mind’s eye, waiting to whisper their urgency and fill you with regret and foreboding…
Do not let them.
Just remember the love. The moments. Play them over, look for more and remind your inner critic that you are wise to her attacks these days.
Remind her, you are seeking beauty, not perfection. Your eyes are trained on the light and not the what-ifs, or could-have-beens.
Remind her, Mother Nature is your guide and she speaks directly to your core and urges you to rest with the nature around you.
Boxing Day Blues are either a sign that you kept Christmas well or that you loved someone so much that this season was extra hard for you.
It’s all good. Underneath.
You are human. And you are flawed. And imperfect. And messy.
Isn’t that wonderful.
Rest up. It is not time to rise, yet.
