What’s been happening this week behind the scenes?

This week has been an overwhelmingly busy one but it’s nice to finally see progress on the interiors of lots of our projects….. hurray!

It’s not always sunshine and flowers with design and construction so I’ll leave those moments off screen, but here are a few lovely highlights from this week with lots of different styles and design projects taking shape!

I absolutely love it when a client wants to use colour in their home. 🎨

Yesterday I had a lovely in home consultation where we picked and finalised paint colours, finishes, details and furniture ideas for this lovely clients home.

Picking up terracotta and plaster tones for the ensuite and bedroom, a deep green layered scheme for the living room, ( we are going dark in here!) and a beautiful selection of materials and colours for the new kitchen extension which I cannot wait to see.

A lot can be achieved in 2 hours!

Trying to describe to people what we ACTUALLY do is always a tricky one for us. 🤔

As soon as you say “Hi I’m an interior designer” there’s that immediate look of “oh how lovely, you pick colours and cushions for a living.” 🖍️

And yes, for many designers that is true, but for us it is so far from what we do day to day. Our life is spent on building sites, dealing with contractors and suppliers, designing technical plans and joinery schemes for production. 🔨

Majority of our work goes on before you even see a pretty finish. The work we do is felt way before it is seen. So when you go to a nice home, restaurant, office or space and you think wow this feels homely and look home it works so seamlessly…. That’s us! 🌿

It’s all in the details.✨

A room can have the right furniture, colours and layout, but it’s the smaller details that often make a space feel truly considered. 🌿

A little experiment... 👀

I took one of my design concepts and used AI to create a visual of the space.

Is it perfect? No.

Is it accurate enough to build from? Definitely not.

But could it help a client understand the direction of a design before investing in detailed visualisations?

Maybe.

I’m genuinely curious...

Would you find this useful as a client, or would you want something much more accurate before reviewing a design?

👇 I’d love to hear your thoughts.

A detail I probably get more excited about than I should... 👀

Countertop edge profiles.

They may seem like a small design decision, but they can completely change the look and feel of a kitchen.

It’s often these subtle details that take a space from feeling nice to feeling thoughtfully designed.

I’d love to know which one is your favourite? 👇

You don’t always need more space; sometimes you just need a better layout. ✨

This redesign keeps the same square footage but completely changes how the home functions.

What would you have changed?

Absolutely love a before and after transformation. ✨

Turning a cold, blank shell into a space that is warm and inviting for the corporate world.

Who said offices and meeting rooms had to be clinical and bland?

Not only is this an amazing space to hold meetings, it’s also a space where the architectural elements have been restored and loved to create a multi-functional space you want to be in. 🪴

What do you think to this design transformation?

Behind every beautiful space is a day of sourcing, discovering, and connecting with the makers behind the materials. A fantastic visit to our tile supplier’s showroom, gathering inspiration for upcoming projects., as well as selections for Project Forest 💚

This message from Laura really made me smile. 😃

One thing that stood out was her saying she was sceptical about hiring an interior designer.

To be honest, I hear that quite a lot.

It’s not always easy to know whether bringing someone in will actually make a difference, especially when you’re living in a space every day and can’t quite see what needs to change.

Sometimes it only takes a fresh pair of eyes.

We spent a couple of hours looking at Laura’s living room and conservatory and talking through how the spaces could work better for her.

Hearing that it’s made such a difference to how they live in their home is exactly why I love doing what I do.

Thank you, Laura 🤍
