Rustic Kernow - Exciting times!
This is just a little introduction to myself and my little business Rustic Kernow.. & what started as a hobby and an interest in reclamation and recycling and is moving onto bigger projects and new ideas!
The environment that I have grown up in has had a massive influence, days spent on the beach and in the sea on the North Cornish coast surfing and relaxing with friends and family. At the end of the day there would always be a pile of driftwood and a pocket of sea glass, discarded sea buoys and fishing net draped around the shoulders, that would then be taken home and made into something useful or just used as decoration in the garden. Soon friends began asking for things to be made and they made great birthday & christmas gifts. I began to realise that there might be a way to make this hobby into a job and a business that meant I could do what I loved all the time - and here I am!
I try my best to use reclaimed materials in my projects whenever possible. Reclaimed timber pallets, scaffold boards and floorboards. Anything I can get my hands on as long as its being reused and not going to waste. Shelving, tables, beds, cladding you name it I’ll have a go at making it. As well as building Rustic, quirky furniture I also have an interest in anything mid-century and retro looking and do light restorations on teak furniture such as G-plan, avalon, Nathan items and usually have items like this in stock.
