Hotel Inspired 🌏🛌

Boutique Hotels offer great inspiration for interiors in our homes, with luxury and relaxation at the forefront of their designs. The brief for this project was to create a scheme with Japanese and Chinese references, using artwork purchased by my clients as the starting point (swipe to see 🖼️).

Textured wallpaper behind the bed softens the walls and injects sophistication, while delicate fretwork on the wardrobe doors transforms this fitted furniture into a stunning feature. A dedicated dressing table area has been added to enhance the hotel vibe.

Pretty Pastels Part II 🩵💕

In this second scheme I presented to my Colchester client for her open plan kitchen area, I let the furniture do the talking 🛋️! Isn’t this Yanagi velvet from just stunning? Artwork, ceramics, dining chairs and table all contribute to the soft, pastel palette, which complements the kitchen designed by perfectly.

This scheme is proof that you don’t need to necessarily go mad with paint on your walls (& ceiling!) to create a colourful space. Using the right neutrals will offer the perfect backdrop to artwork and statement furniture, giving your home the personal touch it deserves.

Game, set & match 🎾⚽️☀️🌻

With the weekend almost over, I’m taking some time to put my feet up to watch the Men’s final 🎾, which will hopefully help be a wind down from last night’s emotional rollercoaster 🎢 🫣⚽️! We never make it easy, do we 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 😬?!

I’ve taken a look round today - so lovely to meet with local artists & see their work in real life. I’ll pop some of bits on my stories so make sure you head over and take a look 🖼️.

Artistic License 🖌️🎨🖼️

When I was approached by to work with him on his open plan living area I did a little dance (possibly not metaphorically!) 🪩! Working with client’s existing artwork is always a pleasure - art is intimate purchase so instantly adds that personal touch that I strive for in all my designs. When the pieces are the artists own work, that level of personalisation goes up multiple notches!

This U-shaped space spread across the back of the property incorporates the children’s play area, dining space and TV snug leading into the kitchen. As with many of my clients, David & his wife were struggling with how to decorate this room in a way that zoned each of the areas whilst still being cohesive. David also needs to be able to photograph his pieces at home so considering the palette & style of his artwork was key, as well as the backdrop they would be photographed against.

What I’ve been up to lately…. 👩‍💻🎨💦🎸

I always love reading other people’s weekly round ups, so I thought I’d try one out myself - mostly work but a few ‘out of hours’ bits too 🤩🎸💦.

There is so much work that goes into every one of my projects and hopefully this gives a feel for that, as well as how many different elements that my work covers.

1) A morning swim - the most wonderful way to start my weekend 💦
2) Wardrobe installation completed by at Project Chalkwell. Wallpapered panels really soften the look ♥️.
3) Tie back decisions for curtains in the same room. This is going to be a tough choice 🩵!
4) Couldn’t resist the sale 👗!
5) Lampshade decisions & gorgeous Pom Pom blinds fitted by at Project Colchester 🩵.
6) Piecing together the scheme for a bespoke dressing table footstool at Project Writtle 🧡.
7) Fell in love with this piece of Art as soon as I clapped eyes on it. My plan is to collect a few pieces and then repaint the lounge. Mr H is unaware that the lounge is to be redecorated 🤫 😉!
8) Creating bespoke pieces for my clients is one of my favourite things to do, and this rug is going to be really special 💙.
9) Pargiter needed 🏡! There is ALWAYS something to be fixed when you own an old home 😂.
10) Runner sourcing for my North Chingford’s fabulous hallway 💚🩷.
11) North Chingford lounge project is moving forward nicely - rug & curtains arriving soon ✨🖤.
12) Lunchtime views - the benefit of WFH 🌸👩‍💻.
13) Kasabian at Finsbury Park on Saturday - I was pinged around like a ball in a pinball machine when they played ‘Fire’. Loved every minute 🎸 🙌!
14) Anothrr room to tackle at my North Chingford project. This space is HUGE, with areas for lounging, dining and cooking. Aren’t the pink window frames fabulous 🩷?
15) A photo from my Colchester client who was very excited with her sofa delivery from . I can understand why 🤍💙.
16) A visit to ‘s studio on Sunday afternoon. It was an absolute pleasure to meet Jo and see her art in real life. The depth of colour & texture in all of her pieces is incredible 🖼️🎨.

Flower Power 🌸🌷🌹

A simple ‘Before & After’ of my own kitchen to finish off a busy working week. Wallpapering the pitched ceiling in here was a bold move - and one my decorators did not thank me for 🫣- but I am still absolutely delighted with the result. Pretty Pastels 🩷💚🤍

A new extension and a new open plan kitchen, designed by for this Colchester based client. The brief was to create zones for cooking, dining and a comfortable seating area overlooking the garden, which was a challenge, given the overall dimensions - but achieved with some clever design by Joanne. My client wanted to keep the cabinetry and worktop neutral, and then introduce colour through less permanent elements. Paint, Roman blind fabric, furniture and artwork all add warmth and personality to this space, and create cohesion throughout.

Keep an eye out for the second scheme, which I’ll post soon, as well as project updates on my stories. The kitchen has now been installed!
