The media walls that stop people in their tracks were never lit after the joinery went up. The light was already in the drawing on day one.
For joiners, interior designers and electricians sharing a feature wall, it pays to treat it as one job from the start. Here's what we'd plan in early.
💡 The light line is part of the joinery. The recess or gap that holds the strip belongs in the joiner's plan before a single panel is cut.
When the strip traces every edge of the pattern, the panelling reads as a deliberate shape after dark. Leave it out and those lines simply disappear into shadow.
Frame the TV and media console with light and the screen becomes the centrepiece of the wall. Without it, you're left with a black rectangle hanging there.
A bold colour like the red in this room sets the whole mood. Agree the client's colour early, because it shapes how the wall is designed as well as how it's lit.
Then show the client the wall both ways. A strong panelled wall looks finished in daylight and transformed at night. ✨
Plan the joinery and the lighting together, and the wall looks designed from the first cut to the final switch.
