We know discounts are really appealing. But we also know severe cuts in price mean someone, somewhere is losing out. ⁠

One of our mantras is ‘if something is too cheap, someone else has paid the price’.⁠
⁠
That means a warehouse worker expected to work on a zero-hours contract at robot speed with no breaks. ⁠
⁠
Or a woman in a sweatshop in a developing nation, paid under a living wage. 💔⁠
⁠

That’s what we had in mind when we created our DifferentMade tote bags.⁠

Every one of these totes is in our colours with a slogan that means a lot to us. ⁠
⁠
And we feel really proud when we use tote bags when we’re out and about.⁠
⁠
So when it came to design, what did we want? ⁠
⁠
🛒 A bag big enough for a top-up grocery shop or to fit a laptop and other work essentials⁠
🫶 A handle that wouldn’t dig into your shoulder when the bag was full ⁠
❤️ We wanted a small pocket for small items ⁠
💧 A holder to keep water bottles upright⁠
⁠
We worked with .wrap to make the whole bag out of cotton, grown without pesticides. ⁠
⁠
The bags are made by women in southern India, providing sustainable employment.⁠
⁠
Our bags look like us, they read like us, and they embody our values down to the very. last. stitch.

The work sold by is all produced by a collective of artists who are living with complex epilepsy and learning difficulties.⁠

Every product is an original. Individual artists work with instructors to create designs, which are then sold as one-off fine art pieces or used to decorate gifts and homeware.⁠
⁠
Founder Becky Sheraidah was depressed by how little the creativity of people with disabilities was valued “making pom poms or glueing tissue paper and everything being thrown away at the end of the day.” ⁠
⁠
Fired up, she began working with the residents of The Meath Epilepsy Charity determined to show there was a better way. ⁠
⁠
