Hunted & Stuffed is now Kimono Living.

When I began this studio around fifteen years ago, it started as a broader exploration of vintage textiles and their potential for reinvention. Over time the work has gradually focused on objects made from vintage Japanese kimono silk for the home.

The new name simply reflects that evolution more clearly.

The materials, process and philosophy remain the same: one-of-a-kind pieces made in London from remarkable textiles with long histories.

Thank you for being here and following the journey.

Felice Beato was an early pioneer of photojournalism. An Italian-British photographer, he settled in Yokohama in 1863 and stayed for 21 years witnessing the transition from the feudal governance of the Edo period to the imperial rule of the Meiji era.
He created and sold albums of his photographs of Japanese views and people, the hand coloured photos combining the skills of Japanese watercolourists and woodblock printers with European photography.
In the 1866 fire that destroyed much of Yokohama, Beato lost his studio and many, perhaps all, of his negatives.

Each cushion we make began as vintage silk — garments that had lived once, now reborn into something new.
Upcycling isn’t about reuse alone; it’s about respect — for materials, for history, for beauty.
Thank you for valuing a slower path with us. 🌿

In Japanese textile tradition, the crane (tsuru) is one of the most auspicious motifs — a symbol of longevity, fidelity, and good fortune.

This bolster cushion carries that symbolism into your home — a quiet prayer for enduring beauty and connection.

What stories do you see in its wings?
