Same palette of colours.
Two completely different moods.

One feels soft, gentle, ready to hold your evening skincare ritual, and ease you quietly towards bed. The other, with its rich aubergine and mauve, wraps the space in something deeper and more immersive.

It's never just about the colours you choose. It's about how you use them. Shift the balance and the energy changes.

Still smiling from last week's meetup at in London.

Organised by my mentor , it was such a joy to meet fellow applied colour & design psychology alumni in person, having only previously communicated online.

There was torrential rain outside, but we were beautifully cocooned by plants, great coffee, and even better conversation about colour, life, interiors, branding, and so much more.

I'm already looking forward to the next one 🧡

Apparently, we're expecting nature to deliver a vibrant autumn this year.

Here are a few of my favourite autumnal home accessories. Think organic irregular patterns, matt finishes, texture, and collections / groups of items. Colours are always warm, yellow based, with a touch of black to give depth.

Loving colour isn't about only using bold, vibrant, saturated hues. Once you understand how colour can support you, you can use it with intention.
Sometimes, the most impactful colours are the quiet ones. The ones that soothe us; ease overstimulation; and create a sense of calm.

Are you drawn to vibrant or softer colours in your home?

You know a colour consultant is in their happy place when the floor becomes a sea of paint samples 😍

That's exactly how I felt on Saturday at workshop, exploring her Delysian Colour System. It was a full, inspiring day of learning to work with colour and light in a new way, through highlight and shadow. I can see how this technique will help bring greater depth into my schemes.

It was also wonderful to spend time again at Lantern Cottage; such a warm and welcoming setting made special by Fiona’s kindness and generosity. So much teaching is done online these days - being able to see real-life examples, insitu, brings the training to life.

Colour is the first thing we take in.

We are constantly reacting to the colours around us, often without even realising it.
The right combination of colours can make a space feel calm and inviting, or lively and energised, before a single word is spoken.

However, when it comes to choosing those colours or knowing how to combine them, it can feel overwhelming.

Is it just me, or can the kids' bath time feel like the longest part of the day?

Bathrooms are often seen as purely functional, but with the right design choices, they can become a space for calming ritual.

This was a lovely project I worked on for a wonderful family. The scheme was designed to support a smoother, more connected end to the day. The colours encourage the whole family to slow down, reconnect, and prepare for rest.
Soft pinks to help the body physically unwind, earthy greens to restore balance, grounding browns, and a hint of playful orange.

Think: siblings giggling instead of squabbling, calm voices, parents able to put down their phones and fully engage. A space where everyone gently winds down together.

Hi, I’m Sara, colour consultant, qualified interior designer… and self-confessed coffee snob ☕

I’ve always been fascinated by colour and interiors - how some combinations just work, while others feel totally off. As a child, I was obsessed with having the biggest box of colouring pencils, always painting or crafting. And like most millennials, I couldn’t get enough of tv makeover shows like Home Front and Changing Rooms.

My career took me into healthcare, where I’ve spent nearly 20 years helping people diagnose problems. But over the years, through uni halls, rental homes, and then motherhood, I realised how easy it is to lose your sense of self in the spaces you live in.

That’s what drew me to colour psychology for interiors 🎨

Right now, I’m renovating our family home (slowly!), juggling the joys of motherhood, and building this dream business from the ground up 💛
