What is a callus?

A callus is an area of thickened skin that develops in response to repeated pressure or friction. It’s the body’s way of protecting itself, but when calluses become too thick, they can cause discomfort and sometimes even pain.

Common causes include:
• Ill-fitting footwear 👟
• Changes in foot shape
• High-pressure areas when walking
• Spending long periods on your feet

While moisturising can help keep the skin supple, it won’t remove the underlying cause of the callus. Identifying and addressing the source of pressure is often the most effective long-term approach.

I currently have availability for routine nail care appointments and regular foot care appointments every 6–8 weeks 👣 If you’re due an appointment, please try to book in advance to secure your preferred date and time.

🏠 Home visit appointments are also available.

If you’d like to book an appointment, please get in touch and I’ll do my best to fit you in.
