Behind the Scenes // The making of 'When I'm With You I'm Dancing'...🩰✨
Casting Matilda Davis Matilda Davis was the first link in a chain of moments where everything fell into place for this project. With her innate ability to dance, honed since the age of two, and a voice that matches it, she brought the film and the song to life...
By pure serendipity, we stumbled upon the most wonderful castle near Cardiff - MyWelshCastle 🏰 We reached out to Jude, and learned the room was mid-renovation, temporarily paused. We happened to step in during that small window, catching it in a rare, beautiful, in-between state...
In-between takes, finding the dance on the hottest day of the year...
To mirror Matilda's movements, the lights were filmed in three states: off, on, and full brightness, with each shot matched to her gestures...
Matilda finds her place in the light as we find the frame...
In the final edit, we removed traces of the ongoing renovation, so that the film could exist outside of any era. Details like open wiring points and construction marks were taken out, frame by frame, allowing the space to feel more timeless ✨
