Running a small business isn't always the pretty packaging, colourful stalls and happy customer videos you see online.
The reality? Every market takes hours and hours of preparation. Making stock, packaging, pricing, loading the car, setting up, standing all day, packing away, then doing it all again the next week.
The last 3 Sunday markets have been incredibly tough: ✨ Week 1: £2 ✨ Week 2: £1 ✨ Week 3: £0
That's not profit. That's total sales.
Meanwhile, there's still stall fees, fuel, materials, packaging and all the other costs that come with showing up. Financially, I'm out of pocket.
I'm not sharing this for sympathy. I'm sharing it because I know so many small businesses quietly go through this and wonder if they're the only one.
I'd be lying if I said I haven't questioned whether it's time to give up. It's heartbreaking when you've poured so much love, creativity and hard work into something.
But for now, I'll take a deep breath, dust off the glitter, and keep hoping the right people find SK Creates. 💜
If you've ever bought from a small business, shared one of their posts or simply stopped by their stall for a chat, thank you. You probably don't realise just how much that means.
Here's hoping brighter market days are just around the corner. 🌸✨
