Spring: The Season That Wakes Up My Inner Artist
Written by Kamie Wood
There’s something about spring that feels like a reset button for the soul.
As an artist, I notice that my creativity doesn’t just live in my sketchbook or on a canvas — it lives in the world around me. And when spring arrives, that world changes me in a way that feels almost magical.
The sunshine hits differently. It’s warmer, softer, and more forgiving. It feels like an invitation. The heaviness of winter slowly fades, replaced by light that seems to whisper, “You can start again.”
In spring, I wake up earlier without forcing myself. The light spills into my room and makes me want to get out of bed. I feel more motivated, more capable — like I can actually finish the ideas that have been sitting half-done for months.
The sunshine doesn’t just brighten the sky. It brightens my mindset.
I feel lighter. More “can do.” More open to experimenting, to making mistakes, to trying something new. There’s less pressure and more possibility. The world outside is growing — trees budding, flowers pushing through the soil — and it gives me inspiration.
There’s creativity in the air during this season. The blues seem bluer. The greens feel alive. Even the shadows look softer.
Being an artist in spring feels like being in sync with the world. Everything is becoming again — and so am I.
Spring doesn’t just change the weather.
It changes my energy.
It changes my attitude.
It reminds me that inspiration is always there — sometimes it just needs a little sunlight.
Spring, I’m so ready for you!
(This photo was taken by myself just a few days ago! Funnily enough I was stood at the back door, having my morning coffee and admiring the blue skies!!!!! Then this handsome fella flew over to say good morning!)
