Well, I did it!

I've got quite a few orders to make and send out before the end of the month, but I can't accept any more as I'm out of both time and fabric.

I did all the events I'd booked and I've taken lots of orders from people who messaged me saying they had been after something specific for ages and just wanted one before I go. And it's all gone.

Thank you all so much for your support, purchases, and lovely messages!

Back from an amazing weekend trading in Whitby, for the last time. It's been a fun but tiring and emotional weekend.

I'm going to miss my lovely trader family from The Gothic Gathering and Tomorrow's Ghosts, I've loved every time. And all the amazing customers I've met in real life, too.

Check out my own gorgeous haul, I'm sure I'll be back as a customer!

All set up in Whitby Pavillion for our last time at Tomorrow's Ghosts alternative market!

I've loved doing this event since I started the Crypt. Any bets on how long it's going to take me to cry?

Thank you everyone for all your lovely messages of support and understanding. You're all the reason I've loved doing this so much.

If you want to know anything please drop me a message on here and I will get back to you, even if it takes me a couple of days around work and Whitby!

It’s with incredibly mixed feelings that I’m writing this, but the Crypt will be closing down by the end of November.

I’ve always loved creating things and interior design, and during lockdown I was furloughed with two small children. In an attempt to not go completely mad, I learned to design fabric with the help of YouTube, and a good friend via Zoom, and Afterlife Crypt was born. I’m grateful to have met many amazing weirdos, had the flexibility to be there when my children were younger and needed me around, had great fun creating things, and I feel so privileged knowing my designs are in thousands of homes and businesses all over the world.

But whilst I love creating things, I do not love running a small business and it is getting harder and harder. Brexit, tariffs and legislation have taken the joy out of it, social media is a full time job in itself, people who would love to support small businesses are struggling too and there have been some months I couldn’t afford to pay myself, let alone develop new ideas.

I took a job hoping it would relieve the pressure, and I could continue with the Crypt part time but I have just taken on too much. I’m trying to burn the candle at both ends work wise as well as being there for my family and suddenly months have passed, treats I had planned seem more like chores to get out of the way and I am constantly afraid of letting someone down. And this is no way to live.

I still plan to go to the events I had booked, I’ll pop the details in a separate post. If you’ve been eyeing something up for ages, drop me a message and I’ll see what I can fit in during November. There will be a limit on this though so be quick!

All this to say, thank you, you’ve been amazing, I hope I’ll still be around at events as a customer. And I hate long goodbyes but I’m about to subject you all to one as I wind down over the next few weeks!

Keep it creepy,
Trish x

This post is one I’ve been thinking long and hard over...

4 years ago I made the decision to leave my job and work on the Crypt full time. Since then I've put my heart and soul into it, and I've loved doing it.

But, and there is so often a but, the Crypt has to pay first of all for itself and making new ideas a reality, and secondly for my time so I can pay the bills! Lately it's not really been doing that and my costs are rising along with everyone else’s.

So I've had to get a job, and, excited as I am for the new challenge and opportunity, it is going to mean I won't have as much time for the Crypt.

I'm going to take a little time to see how working full time feels, and how much of myself I will be able to devote to the Crypt.

I will be putting my Etsy shop on holiday from Thursday. The website will remain open for now, although I may rethink how that will work in future. Existing orders are unaffected of course, and I still plan to make it to the events I have planned if possible.

Afterlife Crypt won't be going anywhere yet, it will forever be part of me, and I will forever be grateful to all of you, the wonderful people who have loved what I do and allowed me to be there for my kids while indulging my passion for alternative homes.

Keep following for updates, Trish x
