Sup guys! Important information ahead for my event schedule:
I am posting to let you all know that I will no longer be trading at the Blackheart Market or any of their associated businesses/events hosted by BGCP.
This is due to being blacklisted from their events after supporting a friend of mine who was aggressed upon on more than one occasion by a fellow vendor (who happens to be friends with the head honcho) and the company have taken the side of the aggressor.
I won't name names but any fellow vendors who see this will know exactly what & who this is regarding.
Now, I am not one to put someone's name into disrepute and I like to keep my business life separate from my personal life (hence no names being listed past the name of the organiser), but as this is directly impacting my business and due to the other party making it personal when the situation was completely unrelated to myself, I now see it fit to state this publicly.
If it was just my business I could understand that as a friend of mine is directly involved (despite me never having so much as spoken about any of this at an event due to these events being my place of business and not a hang out session); However, the event organiser has just blacklisted another friend of mine who is even FURTHER removed from the situation who was only known to these people because I recommended her as a trader. She does not have a personal relationship with ANY of the parties involved past a quick hello at events.
This is now past the point of my usual response of quietly removing myself from their events behind the scenes (as I have done previously for moral reasons) but now into the realm of undue personal grievance.
I won't stand for any sort of abuse or misconduct in the work place, especially when there's a very obvious morally right side to be on. I will always remain civil when I am not personally involved as it's not my issue to resolve. I am there to serve my customers and to make money; I'm not there to socialise unless it's during set-up and take down so as to respect my colleagues' time and energy. This is my job, I rarely even leave my stall to go to the bathroom, even when I'm not trading alone.
Being completely uninvolved in this situation but being ousted by association is unfair, but I don't want to work with a business who will treat loyal traders like this anyway.
So to any of you lovely people that I have met at any Blackheart/BGCP events, I will post my schedule as and when I book events but I will be primarily converting to online over the next few months. I don't want to work with organisers who make for an unwelcoming or hostile work environment and I value my customers too much to want you there either.
I still love and respect the vendors I have met at these events as you are all amazing people that I can't wait to work with in future should our paths align elsewhere, and I wish you well at any future events.
I highly encourage customers who see this to instead choose to shop online with the incredible vendors you will have met there instead of attending events which encourage & support the abuse of vendors and misconduct by the team involved or their associates.
For now, the only events I will be attending will be those hosted monthly by the wonderful Cove Saltcoats in Saltcoats & Bellahouston; and when my health is better I will resume trading at Midnight Lunar Market/Midnight Solar Market in Edinburgh. Please feel free to also leave suggestions for future events located in Ayrshire or in & around the Glasgow area as my favourite part of running this business is getting to see you all in person and chat with you ❤️
