I had to show this off!
My beloved transit van, complete with DIY campervan interior (DIYd by myself and the multi talented Mr T) has called it a day. Terminal rust.
It will be a while before I'm in a position to get another van, so meanwhile I need a wee runaround.
The universe provided this on gumtree yesterday and I didn't hesitate... Isn't she gorgeous 😍
Very conspicuous though. So if you see it around West Dunbartonshire it's probably me - come and say hello! 😁

I've just spent a lovely long weekend in Edinburgh with three old (very old 🤣) school friends. The other three have now departed for various corners of the UK, and I'm squeezing in a cheeky solo tour of the National Galleries before I get my train home.
I took some wire and beads, and was going to do a gin-fuelled workshop session with them last night (no gin here, I'm teetotal 😇).
It turned into more of a demonstration session, but fun was had, beads were chosen, earrings were made, and I cobbled together some quick wee rings for them as well.
I only had presence of mind to photograph this one, modelled by the lovely Jane. It was extremely experimental, but I think it turned out ok!

Wow! I've found treasure...
Mr T just took the bathroom door off in the reno flat, to make it easier to take the bath out. All the doors in the flat have plywood sheeting on both sides, and I suspected that the original doors underneath were probably perfectly good... In the UK in the 1960s it was very common for folk to cover their doors with ply to give a sleek, modern look.
I've just taken the ply off one side... It's even still got the original glass 😍
The big tragedy is that I'm not sure I can keep them, because I think as part of my rental licence, I have to have internal fire doors. I'm going to ask though, before I get rid of them... And hopefully if I can't keep them, a local architectural salvage place will take them. ..
It's criminal to cover up these beauties!

Sorry for being conspicuous by my absence lately!
As if gallivanting off to the Canaries on my own wasn't bad enough, I've also got a new distraction: I've acquired a wee flat which needs doing up, so it's currently Brash Trash Recycled Apartmentry 😁. Got the keys shortly before I went to Lanzarote. It's very exciting. I've renovated two flats before, with the help of Mr T: the first one I ran as an Airbnb for a few years before selling it, and the second was a straight flip. I'm intending to do this one as a short term holiday let, but this time I'm going to get a management company to run it for me.
Lots of work to do first, though! It dates to around 1935, and when I took up the carpets today I found that the hall and stairs had originally had that classic look of painted edges and a runner up the middle. I'm going to do the same with the refurb, I think - keep a wee nod to its origins. Even more excitingly, I found some original floor covering in the kitchen! I'm hoping to find a part that's well preserved enough to frame and put on the wall - I think it would be a nice thing to do. I love trying to incorporate original features if I possibly can 🥰

Anybody else staying up late/getting up early/doing whatever your time zone requires you to do to watch the Artemis 2 launch?
I am... This is a pretty historic one. My parents had the foresight to get me out of bed to watch the moon landing in 1969. Unfortunately I was only not quite 4, and I have no memory of the event - but I'm grateful to know that I did watch it, even if I don't remember it!
This seems to be of a similar magnitude, and I'm definitely staying up for it! Mr T, a bigger space buff than me, has given up and gone to bed because he has work in the morning.
Me and the cats have no such responsibilities, and have no fear of staying up until nearly midnight 🤣 🚀👩‍🚀
Oh... Edit... There's a battery issue, perhaps I'm not staying up after all 🤔

Ah, I'm nearly home!
Waiting for the train at Prestwick airport. Sun and warmth are already a distant memory 🤣
Here's yesterday's highlights. I braved the yellow submarine trip out of Puerto Calero - it's a real submarine, and it spends just under an hour trawling around outside the harbour looking at all the pretty fishies.
Then I spent the afternoon mooching around pretending I was off one of the really expensive yachts. Walked over the clifftop path to Puerto del Carmen and my bus home just as the Calima was coming in. It's a very dusty wind from the Sahara, and when it's bad everything goes yellow, visibility is rubbish, and you can't breathe.. air quality today was forecast to be dreadful so I timed coming home well!

Solo adventure Day 3: possibly too many photos!
I bagged a wee volcano. We've been visiting Lanzarote for years, and I usually try to walk up at least one. Today's was Montaña Bermeja, just outside Güime. I got the bus to Güime, walked up and over the volcano, explored Las Grietas (weird mini Grand Canyon on the slopes of Montaña Blanca, the big volcano behind Bermeja), then walked into Tias for lunch. Bus home, swim, early night. I'm knackered! But extremely happy 😁

Lanza day 2: I took a leisurely stroll along the seafront into Arrecife. Did something I've meant to for years and never got round to: had coffee and cake in the top floor restaurant of the Gran Hotel. 17th floor was a bit of a challenge to my dislike of lifts and fear of heights, but I made it! Spectacular views. The Gran Hotel somehow escaped planning permission, and is the tallest building on Lanzarote. The general limit is, I think, 5 stories, and this policy has helped to keep Lanzarote's urban landscape free from skyscraper eyesores...
Had a quick look at the Saturday market, which was packing up. You see these events with new eyes once you've been a market trader yourself!
Mooched around for the afternoon then got the bus home and went for a wee sleep because I was pretty tired! That scuppered the rest of the evening because when I woke up I was still knackered. Made a banana sandwich for dinner and now I've gone to bed... Oh, I'm living the high life right enough! 🤣

Lanza solo day 1 has been great! I've found the supermarket, been for a swim in the sea, and taken a sunset catamaran trip with possible dolphin sightings.
We saw dolphins 🤩

Good morning, Trash Tribe!
There may not be much jewellery-related posts for a wee while. I'm doing something I've never done before, because life should be all about pushing yourself to do new things... I have left Mr T to look after the cats, and I have sneaked away to Lanzarote for a few days!
Although we're widely travelled, and I regularly wander around Scotland on my own, I have never gone abroad on my own before. I decided it's something one should do at least once!
This is the view from my kitchen window until Tuesday. Happy days! 🌞
What about you? Have you done much solo travelling?
