Before I was pregnant (and even whilst pregnant) breastfeeding really didn’t appeal to me, it actually freaked me out a lil! But when my birth plan did not stick to the PLAN, I became a determined girly.
The first few weeks were HARD. There were many tears, I was in so much pain, my toes were clenched every single feed, silver cups were flying about but I saw the amazing Carla Mastroianni twice she honestly SAVED me 🤍
It goes without saying that however you choose to feed your baby is absolutely fine but I do wish there was more support and education available in those first few hours/days after giving birth.
When I think back to those moments after my birth, it was mental. Nurses coming in and out with medication, lots of “IS SHE LATCHED?!” and me just saying yes because after a traumatic birth I was overwhelmed and just wanted to get home.
Nearly 15 months on and I genuinely can’t believe I’ve made it this far. I only wanted to get to 6 months, so I am SO proud of myself (and every other mum out there) 🤍
Breastfeeding can be beautiful, challenging, emotional and everything in between. Here’s to all the incredible women who sacrifice so much, in so many different ways, to raise the next generation. Happy Breastfeeding Awareness Week xo✨💪💖
