✨ Thank You for Joining Us ✨

What an incredible first Winter Market. A huge thank you to everyone who came along — every visitor, every conversation, every purchase, and every bit of support for our makers meant the world.

To our amazing stallholders: your craft, passion and creativity filled the venue with so much heart. You made the day what it was.

We’re delighted to say we’ll be returning to next Christmas for an even bigger Winter Market — and we’ll also be popping up in new locations across 2026.

We can’t wait to welcome even more incredible makers and visitors next year.
Thank you for being part of the very beginning of The Makkist. 🤍

Meet the Makers ✨

Here are three more of the brilliant Scottish creatives joining us next week for The Makkist Winter Market at BAaD on Sunday 7th December — each bringing something beautifully different to the line-up.

🌿 Sally Shepherd Studio -
A Glasgow designer–maker creating contemporary jewellery that balances texture, gentle movement and clean, pared-back forms. Sally’s pieces are inspired by small encounters with the outdoors, rooted in drawing and collage.

🜁 She-Hag Studio -
Atmospheric, folklore-infused ceramics shaped by the land — rowan trees, ancient mud, stone circles and fire. Her work blends sculptural forms with expressive glazes, creating pieces full of character and elemental charm.

🎨 Rodney Organs -
A printmaker whose bold, joyful illustrations spark instant happiness. Rodney’s graphic shapes and vibrant colours bring a playful warmth to everyday scenes, animals and seasonal moments.

✨ Come discover them — and 30+ more Scottish makers — at a festive day celebrating slow making, creativity, and local craft.

A Gathering of Makers — The Makkist Winter Market
7th December • Barras Art & Design, Glasgow

As we get closer to our very first Makkist market, I wanted to share a little more about what you can expect on the day and why this gathering is so special.

At its heart, The Makkist Winter Market is a celebration of thoughtful craft.
A place where makers from across Scotland join together to showcase the pieces shaped in their studios and workshops.

Ceramics, textiles, jewellery, homeware, slow skincare, art, design — all made with intention and rooted in place.

You’ll find:

✨ Beautiful stalls from over 30 handpicked makers
✨ Pieces created in small batches, often by one pair of hands
✨ Gifts with stories — personal, local, meaningful
✨ A warm, festive atmosphere at
✨ A chance to support independent creatives this winter

This market is also a first step toward bringing The Makkist platform to life, a community that connects people with the makers in their region, both online and in person.

We can’t wait to welcome you on the 7th.
Thoughtfully made. Locally found.

Save the date & share with a friend who loves handmade.

✨ Meet the Makers

Craft with intention.
Design with depth.
Work chosen for quality, story and skill.

We’re proud to introduce three makers who will be part of The Makkist’s curated Winter Market — each selected for their thoughtful approach to craft and the integrity behind their practice.

🏺 Katie Nelis — Ceramic Artist

Katie’s practice explores memory and landscape through clay — tracing the connection between body, land, and experience. Her signature clay-staining technique layers pigments directly into the material, revealing forms that echo erosion, time and place. Quiet, grounded, and richly textured pieces that feel discovered, not produced..

✏️ Amy McPherson — Illustrator & Printmaker

Amy creates tactile mixed-media illustrations rooted in analogue craft — collage, oil pastel, printmaking and hand-built marks. Her work invites us to look closer, to notice texture, joy and story in everyday moments. Warm, characterful imagery with a human touch in a world of digital noise.

💍 Matt Black Jewellery — - Circular Jewellery

Matt Black Jewellery reimagines broken and forgotten vintage pieces into one-of-a-kind contemporary designs. Every piece is transformed by hand — honouring material history while giving it a new chapter. Circular craft with presence, personality, and purpose.

These makers reflect what The Makkist stands for:
Curation, craft, connection to place, and pieces with meaning.

You’ll be able to discover their work at The Makkist Winter Market:

How to use storytelling to make sure your craft is valued

Every handmade piece has a story — but not every maker tells it.
Your story is what helps people connect, understand your process, and see the value in what you make.

Here are a few simple ways to start sharing it 👇

/ Start with why you make — what inspired you and what keeps you creating.

/ Show your process — a glimpse of your tools or workspace brings your work to life.

/ Speak in your own voice — people connect with honesty more than perfection.

When you tell your story, you’re helping people see the time, care, and craft behind what you do. That’s what turns a piece into something truly meaningful.

Save this post to come back to next time you’re writing about your work 💙

Meet the Makers: Nebo Peklo & Urban Pirate

This week, we’re introducing two Glasgow creatives whose work celebrates place, story and Scottish identity.

🗺️ .peklo - Illustrated maps and prints inspired by the streets and buildings that shape our memories. Natalie combines printed textile training with a love of mid-century design to create artwork rooted in colour, architecture and connection to place.

⚓️ - Bold, hand-printed streetwear celebrating Scottish culture, humour and character. Ethically produced using water-based inks on carbon-neutral cotton. Designed to wear with pride, wherever you are.
