Some highlights from 2025 💫
Although… in scrolling through my phone I’ve realised how much content I’m still yet to share here!
Following my talk at Westminster in 2024, I was invited to where the wonderful team of curators coordinated a tour for me! Ailsa showed me around their archive in Edinburgh and I got to find some more golden nuggets of info on women’s history in flax cultivation. 🤩 Looking back this was really cool and I hope to get more research done in 2026 🤓!
Being into heritage research I was then approached by to fabricate a permanent piece for their Steeple. This turned out to be my biggest and most exciting work to date! I learned so much and am really proud of what I managed to achieve SOLO ⚙️🤯! So much research went into this on the history of the building, and a very cool female blacksmith called Sophie from the 17/1800’s. This piece is still officially yet to launch, although is technically up and installed (hopefully not too much longer a wait to find out what it’s all about)!
I also got to hangout with our First Minister at The Briggait discussing our love of the Scottish Isle’s and importance of capturing the lived experiences of our resilient strong matrilineal lineage. 💪🏽 Perhaps this has inspired another Island Research Trip for 2026? 🏴🚐 …
It was then very cool to finish up the year with a group show at Inverness Creative Academy. I was able to develop more of my pieces for this and am now really excited about where I’m going with brass and stone! 😍 A pleasure to showcase my work alongside Laura, Christine and Fiona.
2025 has very much felt like a full-circle year, lots of new experiences, skills, people and of course not short on challenges. I have wiped the slate clean for 2026 creating space for new work, new ideas and new spaces. I’m beyond excited to get stuck into a new beginning!!
Hopefully more open road exploring, brass bending, flax growing and unearthing of stories from the past. Lots of love to you all and wishing the best for the year ahead!
