Stains Massive!🤣…All jokes aside. The majority of stains are indelible. Before treating a stain it’s always best to see if there’s an underlying problem rather than go ahead and paint it and mask the issue.
An emulsion will not cover a stain. You must apply a stain block first. An oil based stain block such as Zinsser is recommended. However Zinsser also do a water based version, which doesn’t always work. Although extremely potent, it’s better to use Zinsser the oil based version.
Once stain blocked, apply x2 coats of emulsion.

When someone has been paid to tosh out some walls on a Friday. These are the results!

This can be soul destroying and very frustrating, especially if you are paying twice which should have originally only been once.

From poor cutting in, to painting over screed. No filling or prep taken when walls have been chased out. Also sags on doors where so much paint has been applied.

Don’t ever skip corners with prep and always choose the right paint for the surface to be painted.

This PVC panel was glossed, leaving an orange peel effect. It was then coated over with a matt emulsion, which was brushed on. Brush marks and orange peel galore. X2 paint defects we come across on a regular basis.

It all came off with a good scrape and gentle rub down. Avoiding any further damage to the PVC.

X1 undercoat and x1 topcoat Satin was used to restore it to its semi original state.

Note: when painting PVC always use a PVC paint.

X3 coats undercoat for the woodwork needed on this one. Battling against the heat. White spirit was on tap. This was constantly needed for the undercoat to keep flowing. Naturally the viscosity was so much thinner due to this, that an extra coat was needed.
We got there! And were definitely not being defeated by the heat!
From red wood work to white. What a difference!

A good mist coat is always key for a final finish when it comes to walls and ceilings. Don’t scrimp on the mist coat. Allow a good cover to avoid peeling later on down the line!
