Exciting news - Coan Interior Design is now officially accredited by the Society of British & International Interior Designers (SBID).

The SBID is the UK's leading professional body for interior designers, and accreditation isn't something handed out lightly. It recognises designers who meet rigorous standards of professional practice, design knowledge and ethical conduct.

But what does that mean for you as a client?

It means working with a designer who is held to the highest professional standards. One who is committed to ongoing development within the industry. One whose work is recognised by the body that sets the benchmark for interior design in the UK.

For Coan it's a proud milestone and a reflection of the care and commitment we bring to every project. 🤍

The understairs cupboard. Every home has one. Most of them are a black hole.

This one is different. Bespoke pull-out tongue and groove drawers - full and half size - designed to make every centimeter work harder.

Insides painted in Charlotte's Locks for a flash of colour, because good design should be a pleasure to open as well as to look at.

We offer bespoke joinery design as part of our interior design service - if you have a space that isn't working as hard as it could, we'd love to help. Link in bio. 🤍

Art works harder than you think.

Energy. Contrast. Tension. A pause in the room.

It's not about what the art is - it's about what it does.

Recently, we've loved collaborating with artist to create bespoke pieces for some of our recent projects - designed with the specific room, palette, and mood in mind, so each piece feels entirely at home rather than simply placed within it.

Good design solves problems you didn't know you had.

This ensuite started with a simple brief - a better layout and more storage. But the details are where it gets interesting…..

The client had their heart set on a walk-in shower - the eaves had other ideas → a hinged flip panel solved it beautifully, adding splash protection without compromising the clean, frameless look, and opening inwards so the space feels as easy to use as it looks.

The eaves also made a standard mirror impossible → a wall mounted swivel mirror.

A vanity with two large drawers → described by the client as life changing. We'll take that.

Zellige style wall tiles from , with a palette that flows directly from the primary bedroom next door. Floor tiles from . Brassware from and handles from - the kind of considered finishing details that tie a whole scheme together.

Swipe to see where it started. 🤍

Photos from our recently completed guest bedroom in Guildford - a space designed to feel relaxing and cosy for visiting friends and family.

The sloped eaves made the original layout tricky to work with, so we repositioned the bed to sit under the eaves and had a bespoke low-profile headboard made to fit the space. This freed up much more usable room and means no more bumped heads for guests!

As it’s a north-facing room, we chose a neutral colour palette with warm undertones on the walls to bring in a sense of warmth and cosiness. Natural oak bedside tables add texture and grounding, softening the space and tying the whole look together.
