Congratulations to Bonnita Apperley - Artist for winning 'Open House of the Year' Award, chosen from over 200 creative houses showcasing artists and makers at Artists Open Houses in Brighton this May! 💙

A well deserved honour, Bonnita filled her beautiful house and garden with an eclectic mix of stunning art and design.

I was thrilled to be asked to display my mirrors at her Open House, and very excited to be part of such a highly regarded venue, especially as it was my first time exhibiting at the event.

Bonnita also won an award for her gorgeous landscape paintings, do have a look at her work! 💚

Detail of a new commission for a hallway window. 💙

The glass it's replacing is yellow 'utility glass' put in during the Second World War, after the houses opposite were bombed, so it will make quite a difference to the appearance of the room.

I love the little bluetit, makes a change from all those noisy seagulls!!!

Anyone looking for something to do this Friday evening? ❤️

Please come along to the Private View of the Portraits of the Sea exhibition (everyone welcome) of the new group exhibition I'm doing with some fellow seagull-loving artists!

6.30-8.30pm at Cake Room Hastings - 30 Robertson Street, Hastings TN34 1HT

The exhibition is open every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday 10-4 until 5th July.

Another chip-stealing sea squawker ready for the Portraits of the Sea exhibition! 🩵

These mirrors have been so fun to make!

There has been a shortage of 4mm mirror at my usual supplier and I haven't been able to get hold of any for a while, so for this collection I have customised some readymade new and preloved mirrors.

This means I can keep the price a bit more affordable than the equivalent size of my standard ranges.

If people like them, that gives me a good excuse to have a rummage round charity shops and bootfairs etc for other mirrors to decorate!

It seems to have snuck up on me this year, what with being so busy with Brighton events and the Artist Showcase.

This is the next event I'm doing - a group exhibition at Cake Room Hastings 💙

This is our third exhibition at this lovely venue, and the theme this time is 'Portraits of the Sea'. It's very likely that Steven Seagull and his friends will feature! 😂

My garden looks like it has been invaded by bubble wrapped zombies!!! 😂

Everything is now back from Brighton, unloaded and lugged up the hill to the stripy studio.

It's times like these that make me wish I'd chosen something small, light, soft and unbreakable to make for a living!! 😂

There will be more garden mirrors than ever before on display at my Open Studio next month - more details to follow!
