Whilst the definition of wearing a sack has probably changed from 1760, this woman’s wish to wear a comfortable sack has not. This well researched, beautifully illustrated and excellently written book is a fascinating delve into the history and details of fashion through the ages. A total snip at £5, even for the illustrations this book would be a lovely addition to your home library!

I am perhaps, not a purist vintage collector, the history and value of certain producers of ceramics is entirely valid. However when something like this pair come along, the non-purist in just cannot resist their charm! They are beautifully coloured, look so cute on a shelf and help keep your books safe!

Is it ever truly a childhood trip to the beach if you don’t bring home a shell? It’s the perfect day for it, if you can’t manage to get to a beach however, you could always bring the beach to you with this sweet little Bon Bon dish. I find these dishes to be exceptionally useful as they have just so many uses, this bowl is no exception, a cotton bud holder, sweet dish, salt holder for your kitchen or sauce dish to name a few. It’s a pale sunshine yellow fading to a pale green and is rare to come across in this shape. A subtle way of bringing the beach to you without the inevitable sea smell!

Good morning fellow house guests! I’ve been so excited to show this little gem to you. A shell inlaid cigarette case, likely from the 1950’s with brass detailing and in working order, it gives me effortless Audrey Hepburn vibes and belongs with an effortlessly chic individual! It is hard to show in photography however it completely changes in different lights, given it depth and lustre!

One of the greatest joys in life is the creation, partaking and sharing of food. It is universal in its appeal and every part of your table from the candles to the dishes to the sauces adds something to the evening. But I am biased as my partner is a chef. These small clam shaped dishes are truly a wonder to behold, perfect for highlighting your sweet course for the evening such as mochi! The gold detailing and hand painted floral pattern make each dish unique, whilst their miniature feet help keep them safe and steady whilst on the table.

For your viewing pleasure this morning are these two port glasses from Real Companhia Velha, the oldest w**e company in Portugal or Royal Oporto to its friends. If port is your poison, these definitely add a level of deep history and class to your aperitif.

Both are in excellent condition therefore should you wish to treat yourself, these can easily add to your bar display. Alternatively, as Royal Oporto are still producing, paired with a bottle as a thoughtful gift!

I’m tentatively suggesting it might rain, quietly, so as not to scare it away… what better weather than to start a fantastic book full of intrigue, deceit and mystery written by a founding father of spy fiction. This particular book is full of deceit, mystery and suspense!

In these cautious times where change seems to be close at hand, Tolkien’s words seem especially apt! This beautiful tray however, featuring a hand painted dragon design, will help hold a calming glass of w**e or cocktail whilst we read the headlines! Produced by Foochow, it shows beautiful things can still be very functional!
