Today I am sharing a personal project I've been working on... small updates to our existing family kitchen.
Sustainability is important to me and I am all for upcycling and having a DIY project. Not only do you feel an accomplishment when it's complete, but it feels good knowing you rescued something!

We've updated the kitchen cupboard doors and drawers with an off white paint colour, and replaced the pull handles with a brushed brass finish to give our kitchen a refreshed and contemporary look.
I have designed an island which houses books on one side, and storage on the other, as well as shelving above. This is to give us much-needed storage and prep space when cooking.

The existing kitchen unit is coming along nicely, and the island will follow in the near future. Look forward to sharing photos soon!

Thinking of a hallway redesign?
Below are five great tips on how to design an inviting and functional hallway.

1. Hallways are often darker areas of your home as they usually have very few windows and little natural light. Consider including a combination of warm ambient overhead lighting, wall sconces, picture lighting, and a statement piece table lamp. The lighting should be functional whilst creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

2. Keep the area clutter-free and organised by including built-in storage to hide away coats and shoes. A console table or sideboard is a great way to inject personality by displaying special pieces such as a decorative sculpture, family photographs, travel souvenirs, or a plant. This will set the tone for the rest of your home.

3. If the space allows for it, include a comfortable seating option for putting on or taking off shoes. This can be a bench, chair, armchair, or a built-in seat, and consider adding cushions for added comfort.

4. Mirrors work well in hallways. They create the illusion of space, reflect light, and make the area feel more spacious and bright. A well-placed mirror can act as a focal point in the hallway, drawing attention and adding visual interest.

5. Consider statement flooring in your hallway by selecting the right patterns, colours, and materials. You can direct the eye inwards to the rest of the home and visually welcome your guests. Complete the space with an area rug which adds colour, pattern, and softness, as well as protecting the flooring in a high traffic area.

If you found this useful then don't forget to like, save, and share! 💛
