Kelsey Emblow Illustration

Hi! Kelsey Emblow, is an artist based in Yorkshire. She studied graphic design and illustration at university and graduated in 2013.

I’m Kelsey, an illustrator creating intricate, colour-ruch illustrations in a contemporary stippling style, layering thousands of dots to build depth and texture. With a new passion for graphic design, she spent 7 years at different graphic design agencies until leaving in 2019. Working on her art and illustration in her space time drawing only animals. She has exhibited these animal illustrations in Bradford, Todmorden and Hebden Bridge. As well as stocking her work in a few places across England. Her biggest influence in her work has been her father. Inspired by one of his drawings he did when he was at university. He drew a woman in stippling in black ink. Kelsey began using this technique in her work in 2012 and loved it. She began to experiment further using dots in different ways and adding new mediums into the mix. Working in watercolours, acrylics and even oils. Kelsey subjects of sea animals come from her lifestyle. Loving the outdoors and the occasional dip in a lake or the ocean. Her pieces evoke the feelings you get when you go to the beach or for a swim/dive in the open ocean or even in lakes. The sea is a magical place but also quite daunting and scary.

Beach days 🏖️

Hi, I’m Kelsey 👋
I realised I’ve been hiding a lot behind my illustrations, so I thought I would introduced myself properly!
I’m an illustrator based in Yorkshire, and I create colourful, nature-inspired artwork using my own stippling technique. I’m particularly obsessed with sea life, but you’ll also find me drawing moths, wildlife, camping and anything else that catches my attention.
I’ve loved drawing since I was little, and I’ve spent the last few years turning my illustrations into things I actually want to use — especially bookmarks, stationery and prints.
I’m also a mum to a nearly-two-year-old, so my business looks a little different these days. I create around family life and am slowly working towards my dream of making illustration my full-time career.
If you’ve been here for a while, thank you for following along. And if you’re new here, hello! 👋 I’m Kelsey.

🌊 And on the left you will see how I organise my leather stock 😂 I really want wooden cubby hole shelf so each of my bookmarks has its own slot. But I can’t justify this as I don’t sell nearly enough 🌊

Signed some prints in my studio today 🦈🐋✨

My studio doesn’t have a window which makes taking a nice picture really hard. But I’ve realised if I put my desks to the other side I get a bit more natural light. Just when I thought I had my studio set up right I got to move it around again 🙃

🦋 After I asked people for feedback on these cards I decided not to have them all say happy birthday! What do you think of these instead? 🦋
