Beautiful interiors don’t have to cost a fortune.

A successful room isn’t necessarily filled with expensive furniture. It’s a space where the layout works, the colours connect and every piece feels as though it belongs.

Before buying something new, consider what you could keep, move, repaint or reupholster. Add a few carefully chosen pieces and mix new furniture with vintage or more affordable finds.

Good design isn’t about replacing everything—it’s about making thoughtful choices that create a home that feels personal to you.

What is one piece in your home you would never want to replace?

THE SAME LOOK FOR LESS ✨

Can you create the feeling of a £15,000 living room for around £5,000?

Absolutely—when you focus on the overall look rather than expensive labels.

I kept the same warm, elegant character using:

🤎 a soft neutral sofa
✨ touches of brass and gold
🖤 dark furniture for contrast
🪞 statement lighting and wall décor
🧶 layered fabrics and texture
🏺 a few carefully chosen accessories

The secret isn’t buying more—it’s choosing pieces that work beautifully together and knowing where to spend and where to save.

Which version would you choose: the £15K look or the £5K alternative?

Save this for your next living-room refresh, and follow for approachable interior design ideas with warmth and character.

What does a £15,000 furniture budget actually buy?

I created this moodboard to show how I would furnish a complete room while balancing quality, character and practicality.

Rather than spending the same amount on every item, I would invest more in the pieces used every day—such as the sofa, dining table or bed—and then mix them with carefully chosen lighting, accessories and vintage finds.

The aim isn’t simply to fill a room. It’s to create a considered, layered interior where every piece works together and the overall result feels personal rather than straight from a showroom.

Good design is also about knowing where to invest, where to save and which pieces are worth searching for.

What would be your biggest investment piece in this room?

Save this post if you’re planning a room makeover—or contact me if you would like help creating a furniture plan for your own home.

The leaflets have arrived—and now comes the part that takes a little courage: getting out there and introducing myself to local businesses.

I’m looking forward to meeting independent shop owners, property professionals and other creatives across Hexham and the Tyne Valley, and exploring how we can support, recommend and collaborate with one another.

Building a small business isn’t only about what happens behind a screen. Sometimes it begins with starting a conversation and seeing where it leads.

If you’re a local business and would like to connect, please say hello—I’d love to hear from you.

One of the biggest myths in interior design is that creating a beautiful home means buying everything new.

I couldn't disagree more!!
Some of my favourite interiors combine contemporary furniture with vintage treasures, inherited pieces and meaningful objects collected over time.

It's those layers that create warmth, personality and a home that feels truly yours.

Beautiful design isn't about how much you spend.

It's about how thoughtfully you put everything together.

One of my favourite things about vintage furniture is seeing the potential in a piece others might walk past.

The shape, the craftsmanship, the story—and the possibility of giving it another chapter in a new home.

I don't believe a beautiful home should look like everything arrived on the same delivery van.

I love the comfort and practicality of contemporary design, but it's the older pieces that often bring the character.

The worn wood. The unusual shape. The craftsmanship. The story.

For me, the magic happens when the two come together.

Old + new.Practical + beautiful.Polished + imperfect.

That's when a house starts to feel personal.

🤍 Are you drawn to old, new... or a little bit of both?

A house becomes a home when it tells your story.

That's why I believe in blending old and new, creating spaces that feel personal, timeless and full of soul.

Some people may see an old chair.

I see craftsmanship, character and another story waiting to be told.

One of my favourite parts of interior design is finding beautiful vintage pieces and imagining the life they could have in a new home.

I believe the most interesting interiors aren't created by buying everything new.

They're built over time by blending old and new, creating spaces that feel personal, timeless and full of soul.

✨ Because every home deserves a piece with a story.

✨ Hi, I'm Marta.

Polish-born, now proudly calling the North East of England home.

Although I've spent the last 18 years in the public sector, interior design and creativity has always been where my heart is. I believe it runs in my DNA.

I'm passionate about developing interior spaces by blending old and new, giving vintage treasures a new life and designing homes that feel warm, personal and made for real family living.

I'm so happy you're here and can't wait to share this journey with you.

💛 What makes your house feel like home?
