A beautiful surprise delivery this morning from gorgeous Enid Asselby Nurseries It was delivered by the equally gorgeous Jan and these ladies absolutely made my day. A reminder that wonderful things happen when there is a shared love, in our case it is always the flowers. I love my little community of flower and antiques-loving ladies. I am delighted that Enid is joining us for our summer gathering. If you want beautiful plants, shrubs or trees then Enid is your lady. Enid's passion and knowledge of everything that blooms is legendary and we can't wait to welcome her on the 20th June. It is getting closer and it will be a fabulously blooming affair, celebrating the season and championing small businesses is in our DNA. It will be the unmissable one this summer.

Just twenty days away until we gather at The Shire Hall, a Victorian Market Hall with Dutch architecture influences. It stands at the heart of Howden, a town brimming with independents and over looked by magnificent 14th century Gothic ruins which are the remains of the choir and chapter house. Howden is a joy to visit especially when our Rustic & Country Lifestyle Event comes to town. Just a handful of times per year we bring together the loveliest of souls that offer the most irresistible trove. If you know then you know and you will know that Julie from Minnie and Nora is the stall that we all buzz around. Julie has the eye for beautiful decorative pieces, from antique ironstone, art, enamelware, glass, jewellery, linens and just beautiful and often rare finds that she has collected over the decades. We are so looking forward to gather, curate and shop. I hope you can join us.

I seem to have a thing for jugs. I have lost count of how many I have accumulated over the years. I do release them from time to time but it is a struggle when you buy with your heart. This little vignette is made up from recent finds, some this very morning. I'm especially loving the little vintage Rye pottery jug which is over looked by Gladstone, immortalised, in a Staffordshire flat back. My roses are looking pretty lovely at the moment too but they just don't hold on to their petals for long enough to be useful. A little prettiness to cheer the day and a reminder that you can find beautiful jugs at our summer gathering next month.

I've been treasure hunting. This rather large dairy jug caught my eye this morning. Sadly there is a little chip on the rim and I almost didn't buy it. Somethings can get away with imperfections and in some cases the appeal is much enhanced by a good weathering. I'd promised myself not to buy any more damaged pieces but as I was walking away it was there, tugging at my heart strings as I do have a weakness for dairy jugs. Thankfully it didn't cost the earth either otherwise I would have had to walk away. With my freshly cut roses I think I'm glad that my heart won me over.

We stitch, sew, source, restore, grow, weave, curate and gather in beautiful spaces. Visitors often say it is what we collectively offer that keeps bringing them back for more. We focus on our shared passion for the weathered and worn, pieces that really have a story to tell. Beautiful and useful pieces for the home & garden. We are gearing up for a very beautiful summer gathering and I hope that you can join us. Here is a little snippet from past gatherings to give you an idea of our style. I can't wait to regroup with everyone.

If you have yet to visit one of our gatherings I will let you into a little secret..... we are one of those truly hidden gems. A collection of passionate souls that love the weathered and worn. We love that softness that only time can achieve. Whether it be faded textiles, tea-stained crazed pottery or patina-rich pieces that have been passed through the generations. We are not talking second hand we are probably taking at least 10-hands, possibly more. I wouldn't wish it to be any other way. Items that were made to stand the test of time. Quality one off English, French and beyond pieces that are not only useful but decorative and highly affordable. For those looking for country home style, those looking for one off pieces, those that want to live a little less ordinary. Our gatherings offer a little something different for everyone. It is where I find my keepers and beautiful old garden accessories that match our aprons, but don't tell anyone. We are getting ready and I hope you can join us for what will be a one off summer special. Yummy refreshments, free entry and dog friendly and well behaved human friendly too. A perfect day made even more so by being at the heart of a beautiful town with the best eateries, water holes and independents to mooch as well.
