Fresh out the kiln, pinch pot whale bowls!

There is something so satisfying about the texture of raw clay. Because each one is shaped by hand, no two are exactly alike - they all have their own little quirks and personalities! I’m particularly liking the texture difference on these, the way the white porcelain slip highlights the tummy and creates such a beautiful tactile contrast against the main body.

Fresh out of the kiln and I couldn’t be happier!

I am loving how the oxide wash settled into the wrinkles and textures of these walrus stem vases, giving them that rugged, earthy look I was going for.

Moving out of my porcelain comfort zone was definitely nerve-wracking, but seeing these guys finished makes it all worth it. I kept the decoration minimal, with just a tiny touch of glaze on the eyes and tusks to make them pop and bring out their personalities.
