What is the biggest misconception about interior design? People think that all we do as designers is choose paint colours or finding the perfect sofa.

The reality is that most of my clients come to me because they're overwhelmed.

They've saved hundreds of images.
They've spent months second-guessing decisions.
They know their home doesn't feel quite right, but they can't work out why.

My job isn't just to make a room look beautiful.

It's to help you create a home that feels like you.

A home that works for you and your family.
A home that supports your lifestyle.
A home that tells your story.

For many of the busy clients I work with across Edinburgh and the Lothians, that's where the real value lies.

No more endless decisions.
No more worrying whether you've chosen the right thing.
No more expensive mistakes.

Just a calm, considered home that's designed around the way you live.

Because great interior design isn't about what's trending on Instagram.

It's about creating a home that feels welcoming every time you walk through the door.

If you've been thinking about updating your home but don't know where to start, I'd love to help.

Well… the results are in from Ideal Home Show Scotland and I’m honestly blown away by the response to Moodboard by Mail.

It was incredible seeing so many people stop, chat, ask questions and vote for their favourite schemes. Seeing people connect with the concept exactly how I imagined made all the hard work worth it.

And the top moodboards were…

Shinsha Luxury took the number one spot
Followed by Kingfisher Luxury
Then Bond Street Lovely and Bond Street Luxury

What I loved most was hearing how many people said they could see how the moodboards can make renovations of room updates feel less overwhelming and can help them visualise how colours, fabrics and wallpapers could work together in their own homes.

That’s exactly why I created Moodboard by Mail. To make interior design feel exciting, inspiring and accessible from the comfort of your own home.

A huge thank you to everyone who came by the stand, voted, supported and cheered me on over the weekend. The feedback has honestly been amazing.

Weekend well spent! I popped into with the lovely to check out their latest pieces… and honestly, it did not disappoint.

There’s something about seeing furniture in real life that just hits differently — the textures, the scale, how everything sits together. So much beautiful design, but also so many clever details that you don’t always notice online.

Mostly though… it was just lovely to slow down, catch up properly, and get inspired together

These are the moments that quietly fuel creativity — no pressure, no agenda, just soaking it all in.

Have you been anywhere recently that’s sparked ideas for your home?

Every little piece you see here has been meticulously thought through.
From finishes that sit perfectly together
To junctions, proportions, textures and tones
Nothing in this apartment was accidental.

Interior design isn’t just about making things look beautiful.
It’s about problem-solving, planning, refining.
and obsessing over how everything feels when it all comes together.
Quiet details.
Considered choices.
A home that feels effortless because the thinking happened behind the scenes.
The result is timeless and beautiful.

Interior design can look very glam online.
Moodboards, finished rooms, the “after” shots.

But this is the bit you don’t always see.

The hours at the desk.

The measuring, modelling, testing layouts, solving problems before they ever become problems.
Making sure things fit, flow, function and not just look good.

It takes a lot of thought and brain juice, and some days I’m properly tired by the end of it.

But I love my job. Like really love it!

Because this is the work that makes your home feel effortless.

I do the hard thinking so you don’t have to.

A lot of my work doesn’t look like finished rooms and styled shelves.

It looks more like this……sitting down, thinking things through, asking questions, and getting clear before anything is ordered or installed.

This is the bit that people don’t always see, but it’s the bit that makes everything else easier. This is what ensures there are fewer “oh no” moments, fewer rushed decisions, and a lot less overwhelm.

Good interior design starts with clarity….it’s not not cushions and paint

If you’re thinking about updating your home this year and want it to feel calm and considered from the start, you’re in the right place.
